IE screwing up again with the design, any help please ? ^^
18 July 2008Hello guys
I just noticed that hentairules.net kinda screws up for me when seen with IE, the texts in tables are in black instead of being in light blue. Is it the same for you too ?
And, more importantly, do you have an idea of what the fook could cause it, and how to solve it ? I wasted an hour already trying to find ¬_¬
Thanks if you confirm about the problem, or if you can help ![]()
Useful Information :
To find more works about a subject ("Dragon Ball" for instance), use the search field in the upper-right corner of the page. When I share enough works by a good artist I create redirection pages with links to all his shared works.
A problem to play videos, or questions like "how to download the zips" or "why does it ask a password, you said there isn't one" ? Read the Help & information page :)
Most elemental rule : if a download fails once, that can happen : try again ! ;-)
You are welcome to share the links to my uploads - I didn't draw the hentai myself anyway - but please, NOT a word-to-word carbon copy, and give my link with it too...21 Responses to ' IE screwing up again with the design, any help please ? ^^ '
You liked it ? Hated it ? You've got additional information and links ? Or did you see broken links (please report them, I will reupload it) ? Bring more life here, participate, add a comment ;-)
If you report a dead link, please, tell me what is the precise dead link and the precise error you face. Never forget to try again, and FYI Opera has known issues with 9hz and usercash links.

Am using Firefox 3 and IE7, no probs with the font colour. Its all the same.
Prob an IE6 bug

I was able to repeat the problem. The CSS support of IE is the very least interesting, and in this case it seems the “default” td-style overrides that of the div. Dirty fix might be putting the color directly in p or td.

Hm, well, how do you format the Text? I have the same Problem by designing WebSites when i use -Commands in the EDITOR and my DreamWeaver works with CSS/Stylesheets and the or some junk like that.

Hey!
From what I see you need to edit your primary css final:
http://www.hentairules.net/wp-content/themes/andreas-08-3-columns-ver-05/style.css
and add the css command
color: # your blue color
in one or all of the following locations:
p (line 49)
{
padding-top: 0pt;
padding-right: 0pt;
padding-bottom: 1.6em;
padding-left: 0pt;
}
#content p (line 196)
{
font-size: 1.2em;
}
#content table td p (line 500)
{
font-size: 12px;
}
Hope this helps!

The problem is not your coding or your style sheet. The problem is with IE and Firefox themselves and how they display the style sheets. In other words the same code will give you a different look in both browsers. The easiest way around this is to write 2 different style sheets. 1 for IE and one for Firefox. Then write a simple browser detect javascript. Then based on the results from the browser detect script it will use the appropriate style sheet.

In your CSS file :
#content table td { font-size: 12px; }
Replace it by :
#content table td { font-size: 12px; color: #ffffff; }

Héhé IE est tout sauf intelligent.
I think you have to change “#container{” to “#container, #container td{” in style.css.
Good luck

If you are using ie 6, it is an older program and may not recognize newer font color tags. Make sure you define your colors in hex rather than names (#AAAAFF NOT “lgtblue”)

Do you using tables? Just set the correct CSS rules for that tag.

Hey it looks like it was only that post that had the text problem. Others look like it shows up correctly.
Vista & IE7

Well, I saw that you’re using IE6, and IE7 has been out for quite sometime now. So maybe if you get IE7 it’ll fix the problem.
Otherwise, I’m kinda clueless.

Hi Guy,
I’m using IE7, and the text is appearing black in the tables. I think I did mention earlier that I noticed some discrepancies between Firefox and IE the last time you had problems. A quick look at your stylesheet shows that not much has been changed since my last comment, but this fix should be relatively easy.
If you are using one color for all the text in the body, excluding any imported iframes, tables, etc., from advertisers, try simply defining the font color in your css under “body”. IE is using default values for content appearing within a tagged area, most likely “table” or “td” because table or td is not defined with attributes in the css; at first glance of your stylesheet. I mentioned before that providing attributes for the table tag in the stylesheet can sometimes eliminate a lot of headaches. So, if I didn’t just overlook it, and there are none in your css, try adding them now, or simply add a class that you can embed within the table or “td” tag to “quickfix” the issue. You don’t need multiple stylesheets for every browser out there, but it’s better to keep things simple for universal compatability.
After a quick glance, my first guess is that you’re dealing with a default property issue with IE7, and you simply need to override it using your stylesheet. Exactly where I can’t say for certain without seriously reviewing the css, but try something like:
td {color: #aabbcc}
added to your stylesheet for the quickest fix that will have an effect upon all tabled content on your displayed page.
Good luck.

Yeah i get that problem too using IE6 and it seems you’ve got some suggestions on where to go with it. Just wanted to point out that when you go to the main page of that post it doesn’t have the black text in the table, its just in the summary in the main homepage.
Good luck fixing this!

Thanks for the kind comments, guys, I’ll work on it as soon as I upload two new hentai comics, they are currently being uploaded
I should blame myself for testing hentairules under internet explorer only two times per year ^^
Moreover, to make things complicated, I can only test hentairules with IE 5 (booting linux and running ies4linux, great, great tool) and IE6 - I don’t want to waste time explaining why I can’t test with IE7 *cough*

OK, I tested with the css edition, I can’t test right now - dodo time, time to sleep, I’ll see tomorrow.
Thanks again guys, I truly am grateful

Oliver,
IEs4linux has some documented issues with CSS filtering with IE5 and 6, and more with IE7. I’m not sure how much is due to Wine and IE compatability, and how much is due to ies4linux, but it is a great tool. However, there is another alternative for running IE on linux, and that’s by running a virtual machine.
You can use VMWare’s Player, and a readily available, pre-installed OS image, or Sun’s Virtual Box. The virtual machine appliance is very lightwieght by itself, and only bloats based upon how much you include within the virtual environment. I run 64-bit hardware, so to get around issues and restrictions with 32-bit software, I run virtual machines. I also run virtual networks by running multiple virtual machines from one physical machine, before actually implementing anything. So, if you really want to test with a fully functioning IE7, VMPlayer or Virtual Box should help you out.

It’s not a CSS problem, the source of your problem is IE because IE doesnt support all perfect CSS as good as FireFox or Opera, that’s one BIG problem, it ignore some of your code.
To say IE (depending on the version) kinda S!@# sorry for swearing but it is true for CSS it doenst do the job.
Thanks

I can confirm whatever you did seems to have worked for IE6 dont have any other versions to test with - well done
