There are indeed elevator ladies in Japan still, like in he Sunshine 60 building in Tokyo. I think they’re quite rare though. But the japanese in general are great at pointless jobs, like store clerks who only greet customers, or road crew workers who stand around holding signs.

well..about people that holding sign, there are many in UK
but in Indonesia, there is elevator officer, but not ladies, a man,
I only seen something like that once, and it’s in one of the best mall in Indonesia (which means, it’s not pointless having elevator man since the mall is very crowded and this person manage how many people that can fit in the elevator)

There are some elevator ladies in Japan but the number has gone down a lot in the last 5 or so years. No idea why. On the other hand, in Taiwan (former Japanese colony) ALL the department stores have elevator girls usually dressed like dolls or some such thing.
The crowded elevator thing is interesting since they actively try to cram as many people in there as they can at once. Ends up with a lot of close quarters…pressing.

Haha, thanks for the replies, guys, about the elevator officers, I would have never believed it would really exist to such an extend.
About the people having almost useless jobs in Japan, I first thought that it was stupid - but look, on the other hand, that means there are jobs for much more people thanks to that system, and that it means living in a society that is a little more agreable… Not such a bad idea

Umashika has an awesome drawing style.
You should check his latest manga called Apron Dress , it’s not translated but worth watching, it’s also on the Rapture forum. And he is contributing regularly to Comic Rin (not really lolicon like most of the magazine).
