man who cares i’m so sick of the election and obama. Ron Paul was way better than Obama and mcCain, and neither one will help this country. we’re @#$%^ regardless.

Brendon, I talked about it in this blog note : the politicians can’t do much, true.

But wether we like it or not, the policy of the USA deeply affects the whole world, and given the catastrophe it was these last eight years, I couldn’t imagine how worse it could have become if the same ideological line had stayed in power for 4 more years.
That’s one of the rare achievements of GWBush : any change is better than the shit he’s done.

  5. Shirou Kun said,

I strongly agree with Oliver. There are more important people in the USA than the president; and everything is better now seeing how we don’t need to hear the word “Nuclear” being butchered. :P

Hopefully Obama will bring some kind of improvement but we all must remember that he is a politician and therefore should not be trusted.

    “What change”

Well, seeing as how he isn’t in office yet that has yet to be determined. However, when the entire organization of individuals in power is NOT republican, expect the following changes.

1.) More emphasis on state and federal funding for public institutions-like education yadda yadda.
2.) More support for the RIAA (DAMN YOU BIDEN!)
3.) Less blatant violations of the first ammendment by way of “executive priviledge”
4.) Less favoratism towards religions and their idea of what’s good and moral-which means less censorship, UNLESS it’s violent. In which case, eh, all politicians are basically pro-video game censorship.
5.) Less favoratism for oil executives and *some* of the other big corporations. Democrats typically give favoratism to Hollywood, so it’s not like they’re free from lobbyists, but there’s a balance of power issue going on, and GW brought his side a HUGE amount of it. So while it’s still supporting the lesser of two evils, it’s still an improvement.

Just because the very core of American democracy didn’t change doesn’t mean nothing’s changed. If nothing else, at least the rest of the world won’t have as much leeway to consider us idiotic hicks who are gun toting racist xenophobes. You can definitely tell that the Republicans have a foriegn policy of “Screw what everyone else says, America first” whereas liberals tend to be a little more willing to compromise. And that’s a good thing-because the US isn’t the only country in the world, and if we try and act like it, we suffer the consequences.

I’m old enough to remember the Carter presidency and am not looking forward to the next 4 years. Thanks for bringing up politics on a night I wanted to take a break from it. You’re not getting any DepositFiles points from me for a while.

Let’s not forget a complete and proper D.C.-style horsefuck on 2nd Amendment rights. Obama and (especially) Biden are probably the most anti-gun political duo to date. I’m not looking forward to right-to-carry policy in the next 4 years.

But I’m probably “bitter and clinging to my guns and religion” since I live in Pennsylvania. Douche. How the hell can he flagrantly insult PA citizens and still carry the state?! Damn Philadelphia, forcing us blue *grumble*…

Oh, and another point of interest: “Democratic majority” is synonymous with “tax increases”, so I hope no one’s looking for a financial break during this economic crisis.

Rant aside, the image is hilarious :)

  18. Apache Chief said,

You’re foolishly assuming the will of the American people dictates government policy. Call me cynical, but I believe America is becoming a democracy in name only. The recent bailout only serves to further the theory that the US government is drifting towards a more socialist mindset.

Then again, the fact that I can speak my mind without 8 federal officers kicking down my door shows that there may yet be hope.

Obama, however, is certainly not the avatar of that hope.

I can only hope that things as a whole will improve in America because I know I would have said shit if McCain was the president.

  28. Hentai Hunter said,

Wow! I thought I was the only Anime/Hentai fan who was NOT a big fan of Obama. NOT because he’s black but because he’s too: Socialist, In-experienced, and I have almost no idea what the hell is or stands for.

He still won’t tell us what “CHANGE” means. He’s never specific.

I’m not suprised that Reps lost big time they had 8 years to fix things (although I support killing terrorists because if the terrorists win…NO MORE HENTAI!) and they did nothing. Plus I’ve got lots of military friends.

What frustrates me is that sooooo many people esspecially HOT CHICKS love Obama, NOT because of his politics, not because of his issues, BUT BECAUSE HE LOOKS SO CUTE! That’s what they tell me. So many woman I know din’t vote Obama for President, they were voting for a new boyfriend.

I am VERY GLAD for my country electing a Black Man hopefully we can BURY the RACIST Issue Hatchet once and for all. However I would have prefered someone more TOUGH, Hawkish, and more experience. Like David Palmer on the TV show “24″

We shall see how it goes. I don’t like his attitude about small business though. When he told that guy to “Spread the Wealth” Hang on I have 3 jobs one of them minimum wage, I pay my fair share of taxes and I have a right to KEEP THE REST!

But who knows maybe he’ll govern great and moderate. He can’t do too much with this economy anyway.

You’re suprised to see conservatives on the blog Double H? Well first of all aren’t they GUYS TOO?

2nd of all I’M NOT a hardcore conservative. Fiscally yeah, attacking real bad guys yeah. Socially I am obveously liberal. (Except for Loli)

By the way on Election Day I voted for a little of everything. I voted for some Democrats, some Republicans, I wrote in 2 people and I even voted for 2 Libertarians. For Checks you know.

P.s. the guy complaining that a democrat would raise taxes, wasnt 1 of his bigggest campain promises to raise it for those with incomes above 200′000 dollar? (shudnt affect any minimum wagers then)

Actually can I just say that I’m not surprised by the seemingly overwhelming Republican turnout. I mean really, the Republican Party tends to be deafening self-righteous at least in word, then in act well…yeah.

What party was rebelling with all their might against gay marriage and yet who also turns out to have a Senator soliciting gay sex in an airport mens room? Or how about a certain member of the house and some damning e-mails?

I don’t mean to be insulting with this, but really the republican party needs to put its own house in order and fast, I’d be more worried about how my own personal beliefs were being represented in the government and less about whom the Prez is if I were you guys.

Obama is president, deal with it. I agree with most of his political views so I voted for him. Whatever happens next is in the hands of God, circumstance, and time. So how about we stop bitching over the election, support the new president and focus all this energy into bettering our country, our neighborhoods, and the lives of others.

After all what once made America great had jack to do with our government and everything to do with our people. Be jaded if you want, but what are rants and complaints going to accomplish?

Save the criticism until it is both valid and constructive.

I too wouldn’t have believed there would be 34 replies in, like, ten hours

To quote Lupine and help me avoid discussion : Obama is president, deal with it.

I just want to say two things, because we europeans have a different view on so-called socialism and the fear of it, and I think it could interest you americans.

    1 /
Warren Buffet himself told it, he was amazed to discover that, in his company, he was the one paying smallest percentage of his earning in taxes. The lower earning ones were the most heavily taxed ones.
Trying to balance it, and make the richest pay more while the poorest pay less is not socialism, this is, simply, morality.
A poor and a middle-class guy will benefit greatly if you save them 100$, a rich or a super-rich man will not mind if you take him 1000$, that’s not socialism either ;)

    2 /
The political debate in the USA is falsified by a wrong idea. Surprisingly, studies dated year 2000 show that 90% of the americans consider they belong to the middle-class.
Statistically, yet, the middle-class is 3 times smaller and reduces each year.
The result is that nobody in the US is ready to vote for politics that help the poor manage to access to the middle-class, they prefer to vote for politics that help the rich, because they have the impression they’re already rich or very close to belonging to the class that benefits from pro-rich policies.
    Funny, heh ?

Well, Oliver, that’s capitalism for you. It’s one of the reasons I despise capitalism. It’s a system that only helps people with capital (HUGE capital), while the poor can rot to death. I like the European Social-Democratic system much, much better.

  38. fatjoe400 said,

First off the pic is funny. Second Obama is not black. His mother is a white woman, he is a halfbreed.
And to Oliver, what you don’t realize is when you raise taxes on rich folk they just raise the price of what they sell to keep their profits steady. So in the end the fellow making just enough to survive gets even more expenses needed to live.

Well, as for McCain, I really like the fries, but I don’t like some of his Campaign-Actions.

But in the end, McCain told the US, to support Obama, showing that he is a good election-loser.

As for Obama, I was really moved by his speech, showing true greatness(At least in my opinion, and probably in the opinions of so many voters, that leaded him to Victory).
Also his way of how he got the Money for his election campaign was pretty brilliant, relying on the people, that want him in the position of the President of the USA.

Come on people, don’t make this about race. That card is a bitch from both perspectives believe it or not.

The race for president has only sort of reminded us all of the kind of divides that exist in America. Truth be told that’s why I really don’t like Sarah Palin. Her politics aside, she was really divisive. Every speech placed parts of America and social groups at odds with one another…and that is no way to run a country. Especially one with the word United in the name.

E pluribus unum (Out of many, one or if you like “out of many comes one”)

That boys and girls is on the presidential seal, America has never been about our differences, but our sames. We all have the same needs and wants, they are expressed differently perhaps but they are the same in the end. We’re all the same.

  54. Velshard said,

Lupine I take my hat off to you and I hope that many who read your post do as well, I am a republican who loves all the firearms that I own and I firmly believe that we cannot back down from terrorists. However I could only see disaster for America if McCain was elected for many reasons. I beleived it was time for a democratic president Obama and Clinton may not have been my first choices but I can foresee and hope for many benefits from Obama’s election… I think. Regardless however what you said is surprisingly heart warming and even though I don’t know your age it’s satisfying to hear someone say that again.

It’s too bad though that it seems as though the black community in America still seem to secretly believe that the white community is out to get them, I base my words on what I’ve seen or heard in the news but most importantly on the words of three black friends of mine who are usually the most logical and moderate individuals I have ever met but some of the things they said after election day left me rather shocked and instilled one very deep unacknowledged fear into the forefront of my mind “Just how many ignorant or complacent people still have some grudge against someone or something based on perceived or long dead wrong doings? Just how many people in our world for that matter want to still get even with someone else for some pathologically insane reasons? I was raised not to blame people for events beyond their control or for someone else’s misdeeds but just how many people were taught the same thing as a child but never truly took it to heart?”

My greatest fear now is that our country will end up destroying itself because people aren’t actually “getting over” things that have happened.

Great, hilarious, and true pic. Finally, a change for the history books, but the wrong American of African descent. I mean, it’s great and all that there’s a new president (we can all get past the “Bush-bashing” now), and history was made, but it’s going to be one hell of a roller coaster ride called “change” and we’re only on the first loop, b***hes!

P.S.: I am black, so I think I’m allowed to get away with this critique. Diddy has this thing about “no b***hass-ness,” yet he voted for a guy that could exhibit this quality trying to fulfill every single promise he’s made in the next four years? But, I’m okay with it since both candidates have it in them.

    Lol, guys.

Down here in Brazil, we have a saying: “There’re three things that’s impossible to discuss: Politics, Religion and Soccer.” And that’s because we tend to take part emotionally in the discussion, as if our point of view was the only one right.

Well, when we grow up, we see the world is a lot more complicated. There are a lot of points of view that can be contradictory and right at the same time. The world itself is paradoxal. Funny, huh?

Obama is a change for so many reasons, and the major part of america doesn’t seem to understand how this can affect the whole world, not just the life of people in USA. One of the most important part of being a President is managing the relationship that your country is going to develop with the others, and we, from here, have great hopes in Obama. He had the popular vote, he’s the first Black President, and he is way more charismatic than W.Bush. These things causes great impact on countries like Brazil. Not only that, but even Hugo Chavez, from Venezuela (yeah, the same one who told the USA is the true evil of the world) declared that he wants to make deals with USA again, now that Obama is president. It’s like Fidel Castro saying that capitalism is a good idea.

Let’s just hope that Obama is ready to become, at least, a good president. With some luck, he will be on history as the president who actually changed something, or saved the USA (and the world) from a new 1929-economy-crackdown.

That aside, the pic is ridiculously funny. I just LMAO when I saw it the first time, and laugh again everytime I see it.

Oh, and by the way, if I vote for a candidate because he’s white, I’d be called a racist. So why is the reverse acceptable?

1st off the picture, hilarious. Just hilarious. Secondly on the political side ive got to agree with Oliver. The last 8 years have been shit. When Clinton was in office we were in the black. A republican gets elected, 8 years later, we have trillions in deficit. The moron started 2 wars at the same time, and did he ever catch Bin Laden? No. Even his father was no better.
Clinton finished his term in office with an approval rating of 68%, (higher than that of any other departing president since polling began more than seventy years). Thats why people voted Obama. They wanted change. Another republican for 4 more years of the same crap and old mindset is not what the people want. I’ll admit some ppl voted for Obama depending on race and i dont think that was the smartest decision.
I personally voted Hillary, but in the end i voted Obama in the primary’s because he seemed the better candidate than McCain. If you say Obamas vauge by what he means by change, i can assure anythings better than what that last retard did when he put this country through a blender. All these mad republicans posting almost sound like racists. You have no real valid points for disliking obama. What hes not experienced enough? At what, Fucking this country up and making policies that make the rich richer and hurt the middle and lower class ppl? Dont forget when your wiping your ass with 20’s just how it was you made that money. Off the hard ork of the middle and lower class while you sit behind your comfy desk and look pretty. I don’t even see why ppl vote republican. The country’s always worse off as a whole when they’re in office. For all the crap republicans talk the sure do love the hentai huh? People complaining about the anti gun legislature of the next few years, ask yourself this. Just what the fuck do you really need so many guns for?
I think its a good thing Obama got elected. it goes to show you that this county is uniting finally. just as the name implies it should, its the freaking U.S. And about the race thing its not like hes black. We all know he half white. Hes Mulatto. I think this picture shows that this chain of old thinking is being broken, (race and political wise) and thats a good thing in my book. Embrace the change! Embrace it! In the the state our country’s in, change is good. So stop whinin ya damn republicans and look to the future. Stop being divided and unite, and if nothing else, this picture is truly fucking hilarious. Nice one Oliver.

Wow, i have read some rantings.
Still the only thing that stuck was the racist shit.

Minimum impact on me so i don’t care.
Been to the US 2 times Japan 1, still liked Japan so much more hmm guess that must be because they are Yellow? Or because most Americans are dumb?
I meet a lot of black people when i was in America white to, the only difference was the colour of their skin… their attitude sucked anyways so does not matter.

Me i hope the dollar stays low.
Why? Well everything gets cheaper for me.
To bad the Yen has gone up for me =/
