As I was reading this, it suddenly struck me that the teacher and the sister are ‘pets’ cat and dog. The teacher is very obviously a cat – I’ve got two stray cats at home, both female, who adopted me just like the teacher adopted her student. And the sister, she is like a dog, not in any nasty way, but a dog that was abandoned (divorced)and has issues until she can trust again (the not eating part, the escalating aggressiveness, the clinging) I wonder if that’s accidental or on purpose.
