This is sad, so sad. It was time to go. To quit. It seems.

Onemanga.com is closing down :(

If OM guys read this, thank you very much for all those years of reliable and quality service, you made my life better, a little.

Now, what other alternatives would there be ? Mangafox ? Stoptazmo ? :|

It was inevitable.

Probably, Mangafox is next, because it's gotten pretty big. Toshokan is already removing its manga and will focus on manhwa.

Likely, online readers will only be able to manage if they stay small and make closed, members-only communities of uploaders and readers with a fixed maximum number.

Sigh it was the best. Dang it man, after mangatoshokan got stripped naked I was hoping OneManga would not get done in but oh man what a loss. Ill willing to bet mangafox is next :/

Can anyone save the complete onemanga content and share it?
Would be great. So onemangas servers wont be overstrenghtened by to much downloads.

Its horribly depressing and it will be a big shock for international manga since internet was only way of spreading manga overseas from Japan .. Lets see if Viz can translate as fast as fans . On the other hand Piracy shall never die =D

Let's hope they only go after the online readers, and not the scanlators (plus baka and lurk). And I seriously hope they shut down Mangafox, since there's a real company behind the site. And since I never liked Tazmo, narutofan has to go as well.

to my shame i never heard of OneManga, mangafox was and is the only site i look for mangas, and just for 2 by now, Beelzebub and Nana to Kaoru :D
IF they would get a publisher in my country and the publisher does the same great job like the fans, scanlators and every ppl around did, yes i would love to support the mangaka…
but sadly its like with every anime i did buy, shit vocal translation and acting, and shitty subtitles, every fansubber make better ones and even for free (i donate the fansub-group if i download an anime of them)

and in the time the publisher needs to make a new dvd with new 4 episodes, a fansub-group publishs 20 new episodes… for what does the publisher get money?

I know that many countries have the option to actually buy the manga, but here in costa rica (is in central america) it's kind of hard to get some mangas, and of course everything is in english, for me it's not a problem, but for many people it is. It's really sad because mangas like air gear or franken fran probably aren't going to be translated anytime soon, and the translators let you enjoy something that otherwise you'll never see.

Really sad indeed. I guess right know the best thing to do is, make a list of all the ongoing mangas you read at OM and search for the site of the translator, at least that way we can continue those mangas.

Onemanga was the first manga site I ever used. Then less than a month ago, I discovered Manga Toshokan and switched to that (they offered more versions by different scanlators, uncompressed images and subscription to a particular manga). Now both sites are closing down. What a damn shame. Time to start using mangaupdates.

Come on, we all knew easy access sites would eventually go down. After ACTA is enacted in the participating nations(Which includes Japan and most of the English-native nations), I would suspect even hentai manga will become hard to find. Sure piracy will never die, but they can knock out a huge chunk of the people who view copyright material by taking easy sites down, such as onemanga or streaming sites, or this one… I am included in that chunk. I no nowhere near enough to try and pirate through the advanced means. But, I have been expecting a crackdown on material for years now, so it isn't surprising.

In the end what will happen is the anime/manga movement around the world will shrink. Mainly because only a fraction of what is available will be released in other nations, and many people never even have stuff licensed in their nation. O well, will be time to move to a new hobby.

Well, like I said, time to find a new hobby, or learn how to use more advance means of obtaining material. Easy stuff will be gone in the next months though.

I would not be so sure that ACTA is going to be so successful. Things just get pushed a little further underground, but once the floodgates are opened it is not so easy to close them again. Napster is a distant memory, but I wonder how many mp3s are on your hard drive?

This is seriously bad isn't it.. Maybe I should go and download all the manga I'm planning to read before they manage to close down all the online reading sites.. Although it is unlikely that they could completely stop the distribution of manga on the net.. I wonder if they will close down the manga download sites as well.. ~_~
If worse comes to worst I guess we could still count on torrents for distribution.. maybe? O_o

Yeah honestly when I read this my heart skipped a beat I was like WTF NO HENTAIRULES????? ok, guess Ill just go jump off my apartment now… but yeah the recent sniping of mangatoshokan and onemanga is devastating to me literally. It became a daily routine/ habit to check those sites for manga now I cant even read them anymore! I know ill be able to find updates for the big ones like one piece, naruto, bleach etc, but I'm more concerned about the offhand mangas I loved like wolf guy wolffen crest, dance in the vampire bund etc. Thank god I was a smart guy and decided to list and record every manga I ever liked, completed, was reading or are currently still reading so I WILL find them again, it's only a matter of looking and staying positive that I will find a reader that can withstand this, should have written your manga down folks! still it is very sad to see it go!

Not an online reader. It directs you to the scanlators website for downloads. After creating an account one can create a reading list that will be updated whenever a new chapter is out. The reading list is probably my favorite feature, but it is not well known because you need to create an account to see it.

Now mangaupdates is talking about removing which groups are scanlating pieces. That will completely destroy any easy means of finding out who is translating what.

Vaizard

Ok People first FINALLY i know many of you like reading online but those site grow to large and what they did has ilegal even if some consented you know online reading should never existed because look at what's hapanning all RAW manga is disapiring because publishers are crushing down Scanlation, and the problems was atracting to much people to one site. He all should have sticked to Downloading from the Scanlators that way it's easy and second do say "how whold i get to know the Manga ****** if manga fox or onemanga didn't exist well you have other places only for that and plus they tell you whitch scanlator is doing what just look at mangaupdates they do that, but now because of online manga even mangaupdates are about to fall then my friends is IRC for all or Foruns in anime site get used to it

Sorry for bieng so harsh but those sites did a bad thing if you look at it from afar manga is now more dificult to get for all look like we are going 6 years back in time so people start looking around RAW manga is getting really dificult to get so expect lower quality stuff and a really hard time looking for it BYE

O i forgot STOP SAYING MANGA SITES NAMES PEOPLE OR POSTING LINKS TO THEM KEEP THEM CLEAN LESS STUFF APEARING IN GOOGLE TOP 10 THE BETTER Plus google is our enemy because they are helping the Publishers finding stuff (indirectly) it's easy they just put MANGA ONLINE and BAMMMM there are the top 10 manga sites the less you talk about them the better keep them secret the Publishers are not jocking around i know that they can't demolish manga like Comics but they can make your live very dificult, just think what if the publishers of MEGASTORE OR TENMA OR OTHERS start getting highwheel on scanlation hentai is much easier to demolish since there are few big site like hentai rules off course it's more dificult to persue little ones but Hentai rules FAKKU could disapear like that it's always ilegal to scan a book and post it online if the book was free it's one thing and even then there are some people that don't like fans spreading theyr books lol BYE YAAAAHHHHHAAAAA!!!!

That's just fucking awesome. Too bad I can't get official releases in my country as they DON'T EXIST. I'm not going to buy the piece of shit translation Viz has to offer either. Do it properly of don't do it at all!
I'm going with MangaUpdates for now as they're not hosting actual stuff (this system could work in long term). I'll search for the scanlations myself or go IRC in the future…

i highly recommend mangatraders.com
they need you to sign up, but then you can download and keep them. they even have mangas of the week, and get new chapters faster than any other site i’ve seen.
