I feel this is because of our relation to porn and to masturbating (I first wrote "fapping", but unless you've got very special practices, I doubt the term could apply to women).
Most males will need very explicit contents, as nuance-free as possible. And renewed quite often.
From what I could discuss with the few women with whom I was intimate enough to ask, girls are more brain-centered and they don't necessarily need explicit hardcore materials to masturbate. They can, more than us males, masturbate to a face, an idea, a feeling, or a drawing that's not hyper-hardcore.
Also about the way it's going over time : from what I could discuss, again, it's as if porn is the kickstart and the rest takes place in the mind, the brain, the fantasies (and in the fingers, true), quite possibly with the eyes closed. While, for men, the eyes stay open from beginning to end (they may close briefly in the end ^^ ) and they focus on the actual contents being watched.
I think this may explain the differences in stats, my shares are overall most made for men than for women…

The low number of females is normal after such a short time of emancipation. If this poll is made again in 2050 oder 2100 we could see 30-50%. I am sure, if this poll would be on a site like brazzers or from the really big porn industry, we would get even now a high number. But it`s normal that after hundreds and thousands of years the woman need a few generations after they really can feel free. Look to Sex and the City, it took decades until such a TV Show aired. But even this show, as good at it was for female sexuality was still very Barbie like with many tihihihi and shoes and so on. It will still took decades until the society is grown up, so that someone (also from the guys) can say "hey I love H-manga and doujin, man this XY make so good breats… yummy". Hi guys and gals, long time reader, first time poster. I'm a girl and to be honest I think there are a lot more female leeches on this site than the poll would lead you to believe. Apart from the sheer awesome-ness of Oliver, the other thing I love about this site is how … well, friendly everyone is. =) Plus, the stuff you post has generally been screened for most of the extreme h-stuff that's out there. And I genuinely like the commentary.
And @ Oliver, whilst I don't pretend to understand the male mind – or the minds of other females (though I study psychology), to me sex will always be a predominantly physical thing. I'd personally find it hard to fantasise to a face, a thought etc. And besides, where's the fun in that? For me, it's about the context and the body – tangible things. These kinds of explicit materials kind of lessen the work-load so to speak. Frequent renewal is also highly appreciated.

Well, anyone can take inspiration from any source of porn, why not. Under Zathael's advice, I took inspiration from an h-manga and my wife and I are now occasionally blindfolding each other in turns. I observed I'm less "using" hentai than I do in the past, but in the same time, my interest for this has grown stronger, because of the artistic side and the scenario thing. I may have a liking to gonzo porn (while my wife digs amateur porn watched in streaming in couple), but I never remember the titles and the stories of the movies I watch… unlike hentai, some mangas I'll remember for my whole life.

While the poll doesn't surprise me, I'm so happy to see many female hentai readers around. I think its awesome. Down here its still very hard to find girls that show any interest in pretty much any form of erotica that is not twilight related.
I used to have a girlfriend who was very much into hentai and other forms of porn, and i still think it was so cool of her. I would suggest trying to get them to read/watch a comedy or romance manga/anime first, then maybe an ecchi comedy, and then some sort of hentai comedy. Take small steps so you don't "scare them off", and in my opinion the comedy/romance stuff works best.
Back when I was married, my wife was the one who suggested we try watching Ranma 1/2, because a coworker had talked a lot about it and how funny it was… and so it began.

I've been visiting this site on and off for several years, and for awhile I've wondered how many other women visit the site, since I am female myself. I'm a guy that reads H-stuff and watches regular pornography, and I've always appreciated the art of hentai quite a bit. Filmed pornography just feels really forced sometimes. Regardless of the situation the actors attempt to imitate, in the back of my head I just know it's a girl and a guy getting paid to have sex. Ironically enough, what makes hentai "fake," like the scenarios and the fact that it's just drawings, almost makes it seem more real. Just because it's made to play out as a scenario, although I admit that scenario tends to be outrageous, but it still beats bad actors hooking up with other bad actors because they can't pay a parking ticket or pay for the pizza they ordered.
