‘Sup all. As you know, the megaupload shutdown has led to a huge wave of panic among file hosts, most of them shutting down or closing their affiliate program, and new ones close either their website or their affiliate program day after day (even if they’re now less numerous to close down per day, sigh).

Technically, I don’t need the bonus beer money offered by paying zip hosts (the rest of the ads allow to more or less cover my server cost), but it’s still a more than welcome bonus, I’m not denying it, so rather than switching to mediafire or rapidshare, I’m trying to find new paying zip hosts. Just so you know :)

I know lots of old links are gone because of that, please don’t panic, but please also understand me, there would be no point in fixing them when we don’t know if their new file hosts are going to last very long, amirite ? :o Patience, dears.

I feel really bad about all these hosts closing down, I hope it will quiet down. Since there is demand, I think there will always be offer, despite the wave of panic there is right now. I believe it’s a matter of bearing and grinning for a while, until some sort of balance is found :(

Shit, I’m even thinking of searching for a “my own file hosting script” thingy. A sort of private rapidshare only allowing one uploader, the admin, encouraging to go premium so that server cost is covered, but serving the files nonetheless – if a simple version of that exists, let me know, I’m interested in both the script, and your ideas about using a thing like that !

Sorry for the long rant.

In the short term, I’m using Letitbit.net and Turbobit.net, russian-based, less likely to bow to the US Governement and Feds.
But I’ve heard reports the Americans are banned from their servers (guys, an openvpn-based VPN starts at 5$ per month, is it really that expensive in exchange of the help it provides ? Or else there’s always hidemyass.com). But some Americans told me they don’t see any problem with them.
I need to know, so here’s a poll !

HEY AMERICANS ! About Letitbit and Turbobit, do they work for you, or do they falsely pretend in your face that the links are dead ? (2 replies allowed in total)

  • I'm American, and Letitbit works for me (5%, 112 Votes)
  • I'm American, and Letitbit doesn't work for me (27%, 586 Votes)
  • I'm American, and Turbobit works for me (17%, 373 Votes)
  • I'm American, and Turbobit doesn't work for me (10%, 205 Votes)
  • I'm not American, but I still want to report that letitbit doesn't work for me (22%, 469 Votes)
  • I'm not American, but I still want to report that turbobit doesn't work for me (18%, 392 Votes)

Tried posting the links comment got deleted guess I should remove dot com from them

Amonshare, Buckshare, Cramit, Crocshare, DepositFiles, Extabit, Free-Uploading, GlumboUploads, Hellshare, Hitfile, Hotfile, Megashare, Megashares, Netgull, Ovfile, Putshare
Refile, ShareRUN, Shragle, UploadFiles, UseUpload

By allow adult content, I mean there was nothing in their ToS prohibiting adult content.
For example GlumboUploads tos doesn't prohibits adult content but it does say this…..
"We reserve the right to decide appropriate content and can delete images or videos at any time without User notification."

Also there is a difference between megashare and megashares.

Slight correction and some comments:
AmonShare's affiliate program is only for getting people to register for premium under you. As that rarely happens it's useless.
Crocshare only gives free users 10gbs of storage. I have well over that with just the uploads I did, so I don't wanna guess how much Oliver himself needs.
Hellshare has a limit of 1 file PER DAY PER IP.
Hitfile and Turbobit are the same exact site, as such what doesn't work on Turbobit for Americans also will not work on Hitfile. What? You don't believe me that they're the same site? You can login on Hitfile with your Turbobit username and password :(
Rumor has it that Hotfile sold out the MPAA, so I wouldn't touch it with an over nine thousand foot pole.
GlumboUploads is interesting as it supports video streams, but you have to have 10k downloads/views to get $50. That's ridiculous, most sites give over half of that for only 1k.
I don't see anything about how earning money on Megashare other than the logo and I don't feel like registering.
Megashares only pays you for premium downloads, AND you have to get 25k downloads BEFORE they allow you to join the affiliate program.
Netgull is like Sharecash. Don't use it.
Ovfile also has ridiciulously high amounts for downloads ($20/10k)
Useupload looks like a scam. Can't even find any references to proof of payouts on Google.
Having Googled "uploadfiles.ca", I get back results of the owner attempting to sell it. I suspect it is not legit. Hey, you wanted to start one, right Oliver? Why not buy it? :V
Shragle looks like a scam according to the Intrablogzorz.
Sharerun is a scam, it's owned by the same guy who's owned 4 other scam sites.

Side note: Depositfiles no longer pays for US downloads now :/

Good searching, you're sparing me time :)

Various questions, Hurp…

– I would even be ready to pay for a "my own file host script", but my web searches didn't yield satisfactory results. If you've got better, heck, let me know :)
The requirements are simple :
. take mediafire or rapidshare. Remove the possibility for users' uploads, only allowing the admin to upload.
. No affiliates program.
. Allowing payment processors (credit card, paypal should also work since it wouldn't be on hentairules.net but on a random domain I take).
. Managing the simultaneous connexions and bandwidth usage between free users (AKA "please don't raep my server, kthx") and paying users (AKA "you allow the server to run, help yourself my friend"), with basic calls to become premium.
If you find a proper system, good ! :D

– once again, about the earnings calculations with zip paying hosts : anyway, you know, even the file hosts promising big money end up paying little dime, the calculations are always tilted. Don't let it go to your head :) A file doing 5000+ downloads with depositfiles can just earn one dollar.

– While depositfiles is mentioned, I didn't hear until today that they stopped paying for US downloads, is that recent ? Where did you see mention of this ? O_o

Yeah, it happened between the hours of my two my replies to this comment. It was there 5 hours ago, but 2 hours ago they literally removed the US from all of their Tariffs (and killed 3 other Tariffs as well). You can see it right here: http://depositfiles.com/bonus_program_tariffs.htm

I recommend you contact them and ask to be changed to the "World" Tariff if you aren't already on it (I wasn't, I was on Russia-USA).

I'll see if I can find a file server script tho!

Edit: …Well, I Googled "file hosting script" and this came right up: http://www.oxishare.com/ The picture looks exactly like DF :V

That doesn't really matter, as the owners of Anonyupload never said they were affiliated with Anonymous in anyway whatsoever except that they share the same ideals about Internet anonymity.

In other news, FileServe and all of it's sister websites have reopened to public sharing. My accounts and subsequent files were all deleted, and the affiliate program is still discontinued from the looks of it.

Yeah, neither of them work for me. I can log in and upload files to both, but when I attempt to download I get a "file not found" error on Letitbit and the download for Turbobit just never starts when I click the "download" button (if I attempt to redownload it I get back an error telling me I have to wait 500 seconds to download again – so the request to them was sent, they just never sent me back the file).

Banning American ISPs would only harm the real people, most of whom don't even support SOPA shit or the feds and grieve the loss of megaupload and filesonic.
The feds, who are the problematic people, are proxy-literate, them, so a ban would be not only pointless but counter-productive.

Letitbit doesn't work: File not found.

Turbobit didn't work, so I turned off some of my security features. It started the download, but stopped a 0%.

Good thing Depositfiles works… Most of the time.

Schuyler Thorpe

I don't trust Letitbit or Turbobit as far as I can throw them.

One? They aren't a recognizable (or trustworthy) file downloading site.

Two? I don't need my PC hacked to fucking shit because of the Russian mafia.

Three? I don't have the money to spare to sign up and then download on two questionable sites.

I realize, Oliver, that most of the ORIGINAL hosting sites went the way of the dodo in a Klingon second (Filesonic and Filejungle for example) after Megaupload was seized by our evil Federal Government, but these new sites of yours gives me the heebie jeebies.

Please be aware that I am STILL a major fan of your site, but I worry about things like personal security and such. Our system is so old that you would have to dig for it. So precautions on my end are a MUST.

I hope that Depositfiles will still function because I don't mind downloading from that hosting site at all. Each time I do, you get free beer money. ^_^

(So count the number of years I've hogged your site (4) x the number of files I've downloaded (300+)=about $300 in Irish lager.)

Oliver AKA The Admin

Haha, thanks ^^

Various remarks, for you and anyone reading it :)

– depositfiles started the letitbit way, and look at the good rep they've got now

– sadly, you didn't earn me 300$ :D
Between the promises written by paying zip hosts, and the reality, there is
. unique ips and downloads (download ten files today, it counts as one only)
. banned countries whose downloads aren't counted
. quota corrections (not enough premium conversions, x% reduction)
. countries with a reduction factor (bad country, x% reduction)
. so-called bot traffic (jdownloader ? Lie to shave more ?)
. and basic unexplained shaving :D

Letitbit showing error for me as well. Used TurboBit on First Love which took about 10 minutes for the 13MB file. Could've probably used Depositfiles on all downloads despite the wait time and still get them at the same time as using TurboBit.

One other thing I would like to mention. When watching Obama's State of the Union Address he mentions that if a bill banning lobbyist(the people funding bills such as SOPA/PIPA) was put on his desk he's sign it. Now tell me what are the chances of a bill like that making it through both Senate and House where the very representatives there get lobbyist money?

Hey Oliver, I've been following your blog for 4 years now and I absolutely love, so here's my suggestion. Why dont you use mirrorcreator? http://www.mirrorcreator.com/ It's a simple and great site. You register a FREE account, you upload your file up to 12mirrors, with uploading to up to 5 of your accounts (so you wont lose your depositfiles acct). Also, they got a great PRO service, which I'm sure within a month you'll be eligible for it (it's free!). read about it here: http://www.mirrorcreator.com/p/order

And for the record. I use it myself, and JDownloader decrypts mirrorcreator links with no problems whatsoever.
Cheers and keep up the great work! :)

I haven't read the other comments (where I'm sure there's gotta be at least some support for this), but I would wholeheartedly support a private tracker, even if you passed on some or all of the hosting costs to the users.

You provide an awesome aggregating service for translated ero-manga and I feel that passing some costs onto us isn't too draconian in any way–especially if you can also do commissions with the funds raised as well as just donating in general to scanlation groups to show your (and by extension, our) support for the work they do.

Also a private tracker would potentially allow us to set up a private torrent tracker as well–assuming that's not too much work–which would allow us for faster downloads of content, while keeping our server footprint low. I could see this as useful for delivery of HD content as well as faster downloads of author collections–basically large groups of files only.

I don't mean to cause trouble by saying this last thing, but I think we, the user of Hentairules, should at least be willing to pay _something_ for your services, Oliver, as well as the services of the scanlation groups. To the other users: PLEASE don't start a pointless five hundred-long reply thread to only this last statement.

The other day,I read this:

“TurboBit allows porn, but lolicon is considered child porn and they take legal measures against users uploading child porn.”

and the page “term of use” in Turbobit say:

“Please note: We will instantly block the accounts of those users who locate child pornography on our servers. We also will put all the information (IP-addresses, payment information, e-mail) about this trespassers to law-enforcement agencies by their request.”

I know that lolicon is very strange in this site, but I don’t know his criteria (what is a “children”) on hentai.

I don’t recommend turbobit,
