Wait, what? Type 90's *stories* are nasty and painful to read, but the sex itself is relatively tame. No disrespect to those who enjoy it, but John K. Peta's work is horrifying. The more you know about/like human bodies, the more horrifying it gets. The only reason his stuff isn't guro is because it's full of silly-putty people, which I suspect is the point – it hits up some guro fetishes for people who don't like actual murder and dismemberment.
Whether emotional trauma or lovecraftian nightmare fetishes hit a person harder is really up to them, but you can't realistically say that the two compare in terms of sheer intensity.
I couldn't read Peta's work either until I realized it's not about getting off to it.
His work pays homage to the "plastic" style of cartoon art. The stuff you used to see in Looney Tunes and such. The characters aren't meant to be a strict interpretation of real life, but a goofy, surreal version. People are seemingly boneless and elastic.

Honestly to me this has always been hentai spoof material. Purposefully exaggerating various parts of hentai simply for the sake of exaggrating it. I've seen various hentais were at one point the guy's cock is drawn to appear huge. So the woman almost has to unhinge her jaw to suck it.
