H-ERO – Sei No Kyoushitsu chapters 0-3 [English], + the Complete Japanese manga (239 pictures), by Takuwan

Darn, I'm not liking the direction they're taking the teacher's personality. At first he was a strong-willed, principled, man with an honest desire to help those who are troubled. His over-the-top sexual rehabilitation with the first student showed that he is able to quickly understand the mindset of one who is troubled and that he is willing to employ "outside-of-the-box" methods to help. Healing with love was a pretty cool theme, I thought. Nowadays it seems like he's been turned into an archetypal "awesomesauce manly man" in that he seems to be screwing his students and organizing orgies just for the fuck of it. Sure, I understand that in the end the nudy-girl came to terms with her real feelings and the orgy was for sexual education, but it feels like all the good consequences of these action were merely collateral as opposed to intentional. He seems all too willing to resort to the "fuck 'em silly" treatment.

Originally, he was faced with an overly obstinate student who kept pushing him further and further, forcing him to escalate his rehabilitative measures until he started to understand the core problems she had that were causing her unhappiness. The sex, in the first case, was a pointed and insightful treatment of love which ultimately ended up removing her complexes and giving her a healthier state of being. In the first case, I could feel his hesitation and his resignment to using such extreme methods, and I respected him more for it. Now, he feels more like a reader/writer surrogate for a studly super guy whom all the girls love and all the guys respect saying "don't worry ladies, I'll have sex with you all if you want!", stopping just short of throwing on a pair of sunglasses, ripping off his shirt, and striking a pose while the girls all coo. In my eyes, he's become less of a self-disciplined, serious, do-gooder and more of a "Don't worry, there's enough AWESOME for all of you!" kind of guy.

I guess the shift in tone in this manga can also be exemplified by the short sister-brother section. It was completely irrelevant to the setting and over-arching story, and the dialogue consisted of nothing much beyond "I'm your sister you're my brother we're related taboo taboo taboo taboo", but I might have digressed…

In summary: the manga has, at least for me, stopped being an interesting character study of a mysterious, powerful, well-meaning stranger and has fallen to utilizing bland archetypes and simple gratification methods. It's not like this is the first time an H-manga has been themed in such a manner, I know, but when a manga starts out so promising and interesting only to become high-school-fuck -fest #56,890,766, I can't help but feel a bit let down.

And then, the perfectly valid counter argument: doesn't matter had sex. *shrugs*

i really love how detailed his art is! one of the best Work out there! though as far as story goes I've seen better;)
