Just a random thought
I’m writing this as an overworked adult, overwhelmed by responsibilities, guilt tripped by everything I don’t have the time to do, and yet mostly proud to see all the shit I’m able to face, the work I manage to do, and the things I still managed to do every day.
You know what imaginary idea has been bugging me for many months, now ?
Imagine that, after the hour of our death came and went, we :
– find ourselves still “being ourselves” (which is a good news, no oblivion !)
– ascend heaven (which is mostly a surprise, come on, who really believed in this)
– and then, like being stabbed in the back, we’re greeted by an angel with an angry impatient look on his face, who jerks at us “Welcome back. I hope you had a good vacation down there. BECAUSE NOW IT’S TIME TO WORK HARD AGAIN ! NO TIME TO REST ANYMORE !“
That, dear hentaiers, would be the worst afterlife plot twist
Wow,that sounds like a M Night shyamalamalan level plot twist..
this is a very popular and well known story by harlan Ellison, "Strange Wine," the title story to that collection from the 1970's, with a person's hellish life on earth being his 'vacation on the pleasure planet' before he is reincarnated on the planet he is originally from. Good story.
Are you sure you mentioned the right book ? I see no mention of this in http://www.sfreviews.net/strangwine.html for instance ?
Have a similar thought from time to time. Only instead of vacation, this is merely a training ground or stage before you're sent to the other universes/realities out there to do your real job.
Hmmm…. I think Oliver needs a different brand of coffee.
Second thought, SCARY!!!……. do NOT want that to come true.
"If Gods take on rigt and wrong differs too much from mine, then Heaven might just be another Hell for me." -Me
Actually that's a contradictory concept, because under the Christianism once you reach the heaven you don't work anymore, that's why most images of the saints show them just contemplating God's greatness… so you're safe of your imagination.
