A new chapter of Nudist Beach, by Shiwasu No Okina, has been released, YAY !! 
This time, these are two otaku-ish girls, the kind of girls who didn’t look interested in “real” boys in class. If I may ask, are you also planning to change the chapter 3 ? I could very easily see me adjust levels and smoothen a bit the surfaces in that one, otherwise, but I don't want to be stepping on your toes…
I'd say go ahead and change the levels as needed, if there's a reissue of old chapters again, there are other scans for that.
To my knowledge, all the translated chapters except chapter 2 were scanned by at least two groups, some three: raw and Chinese. I'm planning to transfer the typesetting to the best unused scans for complementary alternate versions.
The current Chapters 3 and 4 use 2400 px raws, the alternate raws for those are 2500 px. Chapter 1 uses a 1600 px raw, there's a slightly larger raw but it's watermarked and bordered. Chapter 2 used the 2500 px raw, I don't think there's any alternates. The Chinese scans are all 1800-1840 px so the Chinese scan is largest for Chapter 1.
They're all darker than the scans used, except the Chinese scan for Chapter 1 which is a little lighter than the current raw. NogardNogard preferred the 2400 px scans for Chapter 3 and 4; he said some detail was lost through levels and cropping.
Sometimes it goes both ways, like the other Chapter 3 raw shows some pubic hair and a nipple on its first page that was missing in the raw we used. So to cover all the bases, I want to use all the scans. Only problem is time…
Now I don't want to be stepping on NogardNogard's toes either but three of us on /h/ have typeset four chapters now and it's not all consistent. So his work needs to stand but the larger-res versions will likely stick to one style.
Chapter 5 is out in a 2400 px raw and 1800 px Chinese version, no 2500 px raw yet.
And the reason why I color-corrected Chapter 1 was because it was darker than the raw and the Chinese version, too dark I think. The English pages were greyscale, I just changed them to RGB and then indexed and saved again to make the color match the raw. I don't know why they darkened as a result of the first typesetter saving in greyscale.

A side note, regarding the darkening when an image is converted to greyscale, the same happens to me in photoshop, sometimes not, sometimes yes. There certainly is an explanation, but, well, I'm lost between image modes, image sources, proof color, and how they'll appear in different devices (an example of me losing my marbles http://www.hentairules.net/2012/10/19/migite-no-k… ). Eventually, I go for a "oh well, looks like it'll fare better" rule of thumb and hope for the best ^^
There, update done. Took me more time than preparing the original blog post, aaaaaaaaand, sigh, the retouching I made that looked quite OK in photoshop and ACDSee appears too timid and not strong enough in Firefox. I really wish there had been an agreement for default output standardization in the earlier steps of the internet and of programming

And to be clear, my full username is Other guy !amNjNJWXH2, the "actual name" is Other guy and the rest is just my "tripcode". NogardNogard uses no tripcode. It's an ID thing: the default 4chan username is Anonymous and you can choose to change it. The tripcodes are a pasword thing so you can't be impersonated. You put a password when you post and the system displays a code after your name. I only ever use it when I'm in the threads for this.
I'm vastly alien to this chan thingy, I was explained tripcodes once and managed to entirely forget about them the day after ^^;;

If you’re updating chapter 3 (I didn’t quite get if you already did so or not), there’s a silly translation mistake on page 14. バック (bakku) is translated as “back” (“Backs are sexy, I love them too”, doesn’t make sense) but it’s actually slang for doggy style. It should be something along the lines of “I know, doggy style is so sexy, I think it’s the best”
Thanks. How about all the rest, anything else? I was already advised to change some lines in chapter 1 so the version shared uses those pages (but with the old ones included) so you can see what's been changed.
Regardless we should all thank NogardNogard who had the harder job by far, translating.
If I may suggest, forget including the old pages, as that just makes readers confused. At least to me (I had to check the images' names to know what was valid and then deleted the others), once it is a revised version, it is enough.

At this point, you may as well wait for Fakku to license it. Even if Oliver releases the two chapters he already commissioned, I think it's safe to say he won't be commissioning the rest and it's doubtful anyone else will be translating it because it's Wani.

Hey Oliver, if you don’t mind what Photoshop settings did you use to retouch chapter 3? Planning to do it myself for chapter 5 to spare you the trouble.
Hm, well, I don't remember exactly, but I can give you the general idea of how it must have gone :
– surfaces : if there are scratches, white spots, pollution, which is frequent with magazine scans, then I usually apply one or two rounds of blur > surface blur. If the settings are too strong it kills image details such as irises or blush lines, be careful, better run two SBs in a row than one too strong SB.
– levelling : pretty self-explanatory, it's about ajusting the darks. Usually I pick black as foreground color, select a rectangle in a surface supposed to be black in an image, and paint it real black : if there's too much of a difference, it's time to level it by pushing the leftmost thingy to the right (I pathetically lack the proper vocabulary ^^). Just watch out it doesn't make the rest of the image go shite, sometimes that happens, and then, bah, we're fucked.
– and if a strong levels retouching was ran, I occasionally run a weaker surface blur afterwards, otherwise it may happen that surfaces are too neatly split, here and there, between areas having different shades of dark
– if the surface blur and levelling started killing a bit the details, sometimes a faint sharpen > unsharp mask will do miracles, that's especially noticeable around the eyes (but watch out, it's like surface blur, if it's too strong, it's really killing the image)
