The best and the worst, combined.
To put it into a chronological flow, Re_ Incarnation is the story of three young mangakas writing a dramatic hard-sci-fi manga. The balance of their circle is broken by the intrusion of a “were slut” female, followed by the bonding of one of the members with another woman who had a soft spot for him. As they discover the joys of abundant sex, the story they write becomes sexual; meanwhile their inter-personal relationships become a mess, until at last a new point of balance is reached and we have a vanilla conclusion.
To put it into the way the Re_ Incarnation manga went: it’s a fucken bloody mess. The volume starts with the first chapters of the manga created by the youngsters, and it’s a piece where monstruous male orcs rape and mindbreak and kill and dismember women. It’s only 83 pages after the beginning that we exit this fucking nightmare and realize it was a mise en abyme, a manga within the manga.
Fuck. That. shit. As a literary trick that was dishonest, distasteful and disgusting.
Its a pity that the “method” chosen by the mangaka grossed me so much, if you exclude the gruesome orcs parts, it’s a frankly interesting read, the fictional manga affects the “real” (airquotes! ^^) characters, who are affected back, the human interactions aren’t bad at all, and the sex is super hot, I adore the way Chiba Toshirou draws women.

Side note. In this volume, the boys and girls, when they’re nearing climax, look like they’re shonen anime characters with a magical aura marking the peak of their strength and focus. They have those weird spiky bolt-shaped auras around their forehead. At first I really imagined it wasn’t just decoration but something “real” with meaning in the manga ^^;;

I’ve always been a fan of Chiba Toshirou, but this is rather disappointing. I wish he would go back to the type of stories like he did in Dress Select and Candy House. Even his She-Hulk doujinshi was better and that’s coming from someone who hates western comics for the most part.
I deeply know how you feel. It’s like being back-stabbed by someone close that you’d least suspect. Truly I never expected he’d go do something like this. Such a great talent wasted in this…whatever anyone want to call it. I have 4 letters to describe this work and trust me: none of you don’t want to know what it is. Hell I even expressed how I felt in E-Hentai…only to get a score of -66. If you are wondering my name in E-Hentai is D-O. XP

Yeah, disappointment.
Still, the thing that disappoints me most, might not be the disgusting and shit death-rape chapters, but the destruction of a potentially fruitful idea. Mangakas creating a story, the story becoming sexual because they discover sex, their sex life becoming complicated and their interpersonal bonds finding themselves subject to a process of destructive creation, the end result affecting again their manga…
There would have been material for such a great manga, had it been done right!
IDK. Are you sure everyone isn’t just trollin cuz the mangaka pulled a fast one on ya and got you all upset? Sorta like dream sequences in dramas, once you realize it didn’t really happen, you’re either relieved or pissed( usually both) I thought it was great, sorta like when an NTR story twists back to vanilla and all douches get karmic justice.

This attempt at merging monster gangrape, with sausagefests which is later twisted into an attempt at becoming vanilla is just bad.
His older works like Candy House, Dress Select, Animal Assort, Oshikake Riot & Uekano Days are far superior to this.

Just once, two spoonfuls. I wanted to puke and wanted to taste it again. I still can’t process how it felt.
It has an alluring fragrance and a very addictive sweet flavour. Despite its cruel and violent skin, its flesh is smooth and gentle… just like my first night with him♥
A lot of the fans of the “King Of Fruit” (which is what durians are known as) are primarily from the Asia Regions (no thanks to their tropical climate which they grow best), with the exception of those formerly under French Colonization (Vietnam and Cambodia), major consumers of the fruit are from places like Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. One thing they share with Beetroot in the West is that the acceptance to its taste may have to be acquired first, especially since the “pungent” smell generally comes from the spiky shell that wraps the seeded flesh. I personally have no issues with consuming durian flesh, and hence the introduction of durian-flesh Products (Confectioneries containing processed durian flesh as a main ingredient) to help some of those not that used to the taste of its flesh out in smoothing the adaptation curve of the taste buds.
Just a note of caution though: Durian flesh has even more fat than a piece of deep-fried chicken size-for-size! Even Asians who love them to bits have to control their intakes in case their arteries get clogged up!
I knew this one was going to piss people off. Even I was annoyed, thought it was over the plot twist because I was actually interested in the original story. I like Chiba vanilla too, but it would have been better had the vanilla and sci-fi portions gotten their own tanks.
I suspected he may have decided he didn’t like the sort of story he was trying to make and suddenly switched things up, but in the afterword (which I didn’t translate, sorry about that) he said that he always planned a bait and switch, but it was basically the opposite. The plan was to start with the modern world story and partway through, reveal that it’s just a manga that Holo is reading on a tablet, looking into humanity’s past from its ruined future. He had a hard time with it though, so he switched it.
Well, I translated another Chiba story recently, one about a shota-hunting gyaru slut who dresses up like a Pokemon trainer which lacks guro and plot twists, so hopefully some of you like that one better.

2 separate tanks as you mentioned would probably have led to very different reactions. There has been a couple of cases lately where mangaka have mis-estimated the reaction to items they put out. Yuzuki N Dash’s Zutto Suki Datta & Tsukino Jyogi’s Boku no Yayoi-san come to mind.
What do yo umean, by “mis-estimated” the reactions they got? You mean, as in poor sales, or social media/blog/twitter/snail mail backslash?
Both authors got a lot of grief about abandoning their normal genres in those releases in social media and response back to publishers. Jyogi had done some similar stories in the past, but by half way through, the main male MC had started to fix the situation. However that didn’t happen with Boku no Yayoi-san. You’ll notice his stories since have been back to his shoatic characters with Milfs as he had done a lot of before. In the case of Yuzuki N’, she had always been known for more incest type stories that were somewhat lovey-dovey primarily with brother-sister pairing for the most part. I remember a similar response to a Cuvie tankobon a couple of years back and since that occured she hasn’t moved towards the darker stories since.

The entire concept of dream-within-a-dream (or manga-within-a-manga) fascinates me. I’m going to read it just for that. If fapping happens, well, ok. But I’m more interested in the plot / subplot.
