Here’s the deal: the male hero (the admiral) is overweight, middle-aged and by all means, not a looker. But still, he’s the first to recognize it and has difficulty believing in his luck, that Kashima would still want him thanks to his human qualities. And then Hamakaze joins because she too wants some loving, it’s not a problem if he’s not built like a Greek god. Hey, it’s cool like that =)
