Aye, In the end, I DLed it and yah…scenario is…weak
I have to say that I didn't notice it before, but a some of Hyoko Road's artwork bears a striking resemblance to ShindoL. Oddly enough, it was most noticeable in the older black and white works, not the more recent full color one. It looks like he has refined his style over time.
Completely O/T, Oliver: I pretty much dropped out of H-anime altogether about 10 years ago. Hentai manga holds up artistically & in content– ah, story, the bane of 79% of porn –but with hentai anime it seems like a crapshoot to find anything of comparable substance. Sometimes the animation's exceptional or at least artful, but the majority of H-anime seems to eschew decent story. There doesn't seem to be an Shiwasu No Okina or Yamatogawa in H-anime, is what I'm saying. But I'd like to be wrong.
Are there any really exceptional ones out there, in your opinion?
Just to chime in with my two cents: Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your preferences), the only h-anime *I* have found with a good story usually are the darker ones, like Bible Black, Taboo Charming Mother, etc. Not to say that the "happy sex" ones don't have a story, but the stories tend to be fairly "light and fluffy" without any real substance to them. The darker stories have more drama, plot twists, etc.
Hm. Same problem in litporn, I've found. 'Story of O' is interesting, from a psychological standpoint, but it's not my personal preference. Anais Nin's about the only writer of erotica (*ahem* porn) that I've found who can carry a tune, story-wise.
So, leaving pesky narratives aside:
Satoshi Urushihara's 'Front Innocent' is beautifully animated (if repetitive), but all the girls have that uncanny valley / soulless 'droid thing going on. Is it too much to ask for an anime to involve an impossibly perfectly proportioned woman getting deliriously drunk on sex & having a good time? Without tentacles?
(To be fair: Urushihara gets points for producing the -prettiest- lesbian scene I've ever encountered in an anime, but that doesn't make up for the lame robo-sex in the barn with a horse's flanks shoehorned into the background of every other shot.)
Ah, well. I may be stuck with H-manga. A pleasant enough fate, I s'pose. It's just a hell of a thing when there's more women in mainstream porn obviously having fun fucking than there are in cartoons.
