Praise of Photoshop CS5
I hadn’t noticed, but, at last, Photoshop CS5 has been published, excellent news !
Even if you don’t know me, you may wonder why I’m so excited by this news. If you know me, you may wonder even more, since I’m a Gimp user, and I’ve become pretty good with the Gimp, enough to make it an “official” production tool for my IRL work.
Two words : Content Aware. Better than a long story, here are a few examples.
It’s the real deal.
It’s awesome shit.
It’s not complicated.
It’s going to rain heavy downpours of decensored hentai, I pray for it
Can you imagine if that’s applied to entirely black or white censorship bars ? Hmm ? :3
I toyed with Content Aware during 30 minutes, and I obtained results I had never been able to produce with my good decensoring experience. A triple censorship bar at the conjuction of a penis and a vagina ? No problem ! This type of censorship is something on which I have no choice but to give up, something that would have be redrawn almost from scratch by more talented decensorers, hopefully using a graphical tablet. And Content Aware dealt with it in a fraction of a second
Of course, it’s not perfect, this is a “stupid” plugin as all software codes, and since it has to guess from neighbouring areas, you have to carefully chose what your selection will be (I noticed considerable changes if I simply expanded my selections by two pixels). Sometimes, rather than selecting a censored block, it’s best to “slice” it in a number of selections comprising only a small censored part, if you see the idea. Also, give up on saving zones entirely comprised in a lost area (like a clitoris).
It won’t work on many several of censorships.
Sometimes, an area looking easy to fix will have to be fixed the old way (cf Ero-Otoko’s tutorial !).
Usually, you’ll have to do a bit of after effects, smooting the borders of your restored selection.
But these restrictions hardly make me calm down : really, Content Aware is THE thing I’ve been hoping for a long time
Hey, YOU, the perv, reading this page instead of having a socially acceptable and productive occupation, yes, you ! Haven’t you dreamt of decensoring some of your favorite hentai mangas to make them even more awesome ? Why don’t you give it a try with this Ero-O’s tutorial and this new Photoshop version’s Content Aware tool ? (Just remember to share it with everyone when you have finished !)
I was like that too when I saw cs5 and got it as soon as it came out (start of may) and have been playing around with Content Aware fill but it dosn't work for everything but is really good none the less it can get it wrong just like the spot healing brush can some times but you can isolate the area it will use for Content Aware fill which can produce better results, just depends on the picture
away to answer your question to rotate or transform a selection you go to select menu the transform selection it will only effect the selection not whats in the selection then you can rotate it by hovering the mouse near the coners it will change icon to rotate
i hope this helps
… or for short: Ctrl-T for the transform tool.
My results for (design-oriented) photo treatment using the Content-Aware Fill tool were a little disappointing, so I’m not really using it much, but I should give a try on decensoring to see what I get.
Select the image/layer, check the free transform tool. Then a rectangle (or square) that allows for you to make the image larger/smaller appears. Go to one of the corners of that rectangle, move out one centimeter and a little rotation arrow should show up.
I think this was mentioned the last time you brought this up but GIMP already has a “content aware” plug-in called Resynth. This is good for those that can’t pay for Photoshop and don’t want to pirate. Slashdot ran a article point to a comparison a few weeks ago.

yes, Content Aware isn´t perfect tool but it is useful instead to begin from scratch, you can correct the bars or shadows and then retouch it.
I´m a casual user only of Photoshop, but i’m thinking to buy a Genius digitizer tablet ^^, it isn’t a Wacom obviously but it isn´t so expensive.
About to Rotate, once you have your selection: menu Selection > Transform Selection OR menu Edit > Transform > Rotate.
It’d be a good idea if you could download the Help file of Photoshop, it’s really useful to know the new (or old) functions:

(PDF link in upper right corner, or directly this: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/photoshop_cs5_help.pdf )
Oh wow. Thanks! That tutorial makes it much easier. I had tried decensoring once, but gave up with 3 pages left. (I was re-drawing everything using a mouse.) This should make it much easier, even without CS5. (I’m running on CS4.)
Oh, and yeah. The above 2 people are right for the how to rotate thing. CTRL+T
Sweet jumpin’ jesus. I doubt it’ll be a magic bullet, but if it’s half as good as it looks it’s gotta be a time saver.
Just a note, guys : no panic if you don't see the previous recent comments anymore, they'll come back, it's temporary ^_^
Make sure your selection is in the right layer, then press control+T and u can rotate. Rotation can be done with the mouse. Also you can put in how many degrees it should turn.
BTW dont know if anyone has already awnsered this so i figured i would
Thanks for the reply, Guest
I didn't like it that much content aware works better in landscapes ratter then photos and manga
for the uncen it's not that goos either i do what he does in 1min so it doesn't help that much but there were so reall cool stuff in CS5 like the new croping i can extract an part of the image and get small difficult details without doing much selection, stuff like hair or furr and de new denoise option it's freakin cool to clean to say the least i was happy with all the improvemenst that cs5 brought to us but content aware was the one that i got disapointed there are much better stuff in it XD still the tool is nice
