I'm not the biggest fan of pregnant sex and the part with the random dude was, well, random. Randomly "blegh" to be precise. But credit where credit is due: the second half of chapter 4 was actually quite nice to read, probably because I *do* like futa and I thought the elephant trunk… eh, I mean: the limp penis of Sogahara after the sex looked pretty hilarious. The ending was sweet, too. Ever since chapter 1 it was obvious that Takumi and Sogahara we're gonna have sex, but even love and marriage? Right on!
All in all "Becoming a Girl" was, eh… refreshing to read. I've never seen anything quite like it before, that's for sure. Is it fucked up beyond all reason? Most definitely. In a good or bad way? I have to say: mostly good, sometimes bad. Will you like it if you are put off by gender-bender, hentai rape, overly kinky sex and pregnancy? I highly doubt it. If you do like all that stuff: go read it, but for the love of god don't forget what the warning sign on the drunk hippo's back is saying!
I liked the good news. Let's all hope that his next work would be good.
Futa sucks IMO, but the ending made it bearable in its own way. It boils down whether you end up liking it or not, leaving out any discernible middle ground.
I thought it was a pretty tame ending, for ShindoL at least. Then again, I always liked his stuff (see foonote).

In all honesty as controversial as this share is I in all honesty found it intriguing, artistically ShindoL is one of the artists that I love (but Nico Pun Nise still remains my overall favorite.)
The art and your brief synopsis originally brought me into reading this share when you posted the first chapter. In the end I can say without a doubt that i truly found it interesting, the end of each chapter had me think "I wonder what's going to happen next", especially after the bombshell at the end of the third chapter.
Though to be blunt I really don't know what to make of "Becoming A Girl", (if anything it makes me yearn for ShindoL to retread some themes of previous work, especially since I absolutely loved "Barrier Free"). It's story didn't cater to me, but it was interesting enough to warrant me to finish each chapter.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone though, nor would I read it again.
I believe there are two ways to ensure a high volume of downloads from any given post here at hentairules:
1) Oliver gushes over how great the manga is, and people want to read it because they know he is an experienced veteran.
2) Oliver rants and raves about how awful it is, and people want to read it to see what the hell could generate that strong a reaction from him. Curiosity is a stronger emotion than dislike.
I confess, both reasons work very well on me.

I just wanted to see what would happen next as well, but honestly I could not fap to this at all. To me it felt like watching a train wreck, with the train full of porn stars, and at the same time trying to think if it's a good idea to masturbate to it. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I wish he would stop drawing ridiculous stuff like preggo sex, that's what's turned me off the most.
I may be the one screaming against the crowd, but I liked this manga a lot (and you can't argue that it was much lighter than other works made by this author), especially the last chapter (those in-between were meh, I'm not into senseless gangbangs). Then again, everyone has its personal tastes =) .

I’ve learned to stay away from this mangaka a long time back. As much as I like his character designs, the content always disappoints me.
The only story that are acceptable by Shindol are Sarashi Ai and Single Nabe X Double Nabe
but all his other works are fucked up

First of all, thanks Oliver for going outside of your "comfort zone" in sharing this. The beginning was ok, the middle was fucked up, and the ending was futa (which we all know you love *so much*).
I agree with the others who thought the futa part was the best possible ending to the story, and since I like futa, the ending was actually very enjoyable for me. I just wish I didn't have to go through chapter 3 to get to it. :|

"Barrier Free" is in my opinion the best story ShindoL has ever done. It also is the only hentai story I know of where the main female character is disabled.

It's easy to see the pattern really. Stories published as "Shindo L" go into weird territory but typically end on a bright note.

I certainly prefer lighter and sweet stories, but Shindol is in his mode interesting, I think that his works make me appreciate even more the "normal" stories in any case is an author so extreme and strange that it is difficult to categorize him, and perhaps this is his greatest virtue.

Yes, it's rather sick. But what exactly IS sick in this story? The preggo-sex? Sorry dudes… pregnant women CAN have sex and there's nothing sick about that. Nature protected the child with a slime-plug in the uterus. And that sex in hentai-world is always more extreme and harder than in your own live… that's no surprise either. (and I don't say, that I liked it… these are just facts)
To me, the sickest chapters were, where the protagonist degraded himself to a cumdump or the like. Dunno what it was, that made this hentai different from other stories with the same motive, but somehow it felt different and more "wrong" or sth. like that. I do read cumdump stories too, so just to make this clear… it's not because I don't like this issue at all. For me the sickest chapters we're NOT the last ones, where the protagonists begins to feel responsible for his deeds and begins to act at least reasonable in some way. (please I don't want to discuss, wether prostitution is a tolerable way to make money if pregnant or not. And yes, that's my opinion: it IS a tolerable way)

Usually I don't like futa-stuff. Probably because mostly the futa-women only replace men… doing the same stuff acting as despicable or not as a normal men would have acted too, but this time there were undoubtedly feeling added.
Maybe the story is so fucked-up so it's long too late to add feeling, maybe not… but somehow it put me at ease at least a little bit.
