She is called apparition, because she is an Akaname (I think it's not actually her name, but the name of the 'species' she is, literally translated as filth licker. I think that the translation says it all lol).

Like uey111 said, Akaname isn't her name, it is a description of what she is. A quick Google search came up with this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akaname
In this story, she isn't a scary being licking toilets but is instead a cute girl who apparently licks up "filthy" body fluids. My guess is that the reason she first went after the recorder is because it once had someone's saliva on it.
Besides, isn't it a flute, instead of a recorder ??

No, it's a recorder.
I can see where the confusion comes from. Zathael isn't talking about a recorder that records sound. He's referring to the cheap, plastic musical instrument that every elementary child in America has played. It IS a type of flute though.
