I guess the new content warning thingy annoys you ? Well : me too ! >_<
Short story : I’ve been forced to place a content warning system, and I received reports that it’s bugged.
Give me one or two days and, at least, you won’t be shown this with every new page (it will be cookie-based, but I can’t entirely remove it).
Long story : Well, it’s more complicated…
I was busy phoning my web host because of a server problem (you may have noticed hentairules was offline yesterday ? ;), when the support person suddenly goes anal and asks me where’s my content warning page.
Me : wut ?
Support person : it’s the law, sir, the law.
Me : no way !
Support person : yes way !
I think this is just idiotic and decide to forget about it, but just to be sure, I phone again one hour later. I have a new person on the phone, and when asked in general terms, that person tells I shouldn’t give a fuck, it’s okay, it’s tolerated. But then we check my hosting account : it’s been noted very clearly that there MUST be a content warning, and once it’s written, checks will be made, and it has do be done.
Either I applied a content warning system, or else I was unplugged from the internet. I complied.
As it was configured, it would use a cookie with a ten years expiry time (huhu, I found this duration hilarious), meaning you wouldn’t see it again until your cookies are cleared.
But it didn’t work well ! I use a caching plugin (without a cache, I should purchase a dedicated server, it would cost me a fortune), and this caching plugin interferes with the content warning system. And it seems that every time you visit, dear visitor, you’re a new visitor, it’s magic !
It’s not normal, but I’m not superhuman, I’ll need a bit of time to find a replacement, give me one or two days – or, heck, if you’re a coder, give me the code, save the php cookie creation it must be wrapped inside javascript because javascript ouput is not cached unlike plugins relying on php, it’s the only requirement – and it should become OK
Final summary :
Short version : OWNED !
Longer version : Sorry it bothers you, I have no choice, give me two days and it will be much less annoying that won’t popup all the time
Lol I was going to ask if you can keep a cookie or something..
Nevertheless, I use IE's InPrivate so it's gonna clear out the cookie when I visit this site the next day anyway.. So I'll be a victim XD But yeah, hopefully there's a way to solve the puzzle soon!
[By the way, I use my own computer, but InPrivate saves me from friends going on my laptop checking history or accidentally typing something that's part of a page in this site]
well sadly I cant help you but it could be worst
anyway thx for the explanation B)
So there’s a click-through adult content warning for the site :-( but none for the popup fleshlight ad with full nudity? How does that work?
Well, all in all, yeah, it’s somewhat of an inconvenience, but I think it’s a small thing to deal with to keep your site up and running. (And with as little negative attention as possible.)
Yeah its hell annoying, but its a small compromise. It gave me a good laugh when I found out what happens if you chose "Exit" rather than "Enter"…^_^
what will happen if i choose exit? i guess will never know….
I had to try it: It takes you to the Wikipedia page for "Pornography".
you get redirected to wikipedia's "pornography" page
ehm… to me is perfect as it is, I don't see anything
Are you working on it maybe?
I don't mind the message really.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed not having one, but yea, one click is not then end of my life. Even if ill be doing that click alot.
true that….it just one simple click…not really a bother if you ask me…
Same and at last your warning is fun to read
agreed
i think we would all endure way more just to come see your awesome site!
I don't see any warning.
Maybe it's because I'm in incognito mode, but that doesn't make much sense, that means I should see it every single session that I visit this site, since cookies are saved during the duration of the session, at least.
anyways, the content warning thingy doesn't work for me.
AAAAAHHH NOW IT WORKS COOL
I agree, funner to read than most warnings
It's no big deal Oliver. It's a small compromise to be able to keep a great site active.
Keep up the great work man!
~Kyoten
Not a big deal, the web hosting companies have to cover themselves. It's a minor inconvenience.
OIIIII WEBBB developer guys lets help oliver
Our mission: find the best way for content warning that only trigger once
hahahhah

regards
lord.aeon
Well, have a look ?

check this out bro http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?…
but it doesnt comply with all of your requirement
i'm sorry i am not a php i'm C# fan who loves porn LOL
i am using chrome browser,, when i visit your site the content warning system only appear once
i dont know why
maybe your script have a browser compatibility?
Oliver, you da man. Your disclaimer is hilarious. If all the warning notes were so fun, I wouldn't mind them at all.
For those of you using Adblock Plus, add this filter:
||hentairules.net/wp-content/plugins/content-warning/assets/wpcw.js?*
Thanks, Outcast.
Well found. I didn't advertise adblock because I love the beer money brought by my ads, but I have absolutely no problem with geeks finding them solution themselves or talking about it in the comments, I also block whatever bothers me
Yeah AdBlock works well
Extract from Wikipedia:
Many nations that allow at least some types of pornography attempt to ensure that those under their legal age for accessing porn (often 18 or 21) cannot easily access it. Various measures have been tried but with varying success. Within the United States, most websites have taken voluntary steps to ensure that visitors to their sites are not underage. Many Web sites provide a warning upon entry, warning minors and those not interested in viewing porn not to view the site, and requiring one to affirm that one is at least 18 and wishing to view pornographic content. Such warning pages have little effect in preventing access by minors to porn, as any minor interested in viewing the site can simply click on the “I am an adult over 18” button without having to prove his or her age.
Note the "voluntary" bit
Somehow, I knew it was something like that, but I had to ask just to be sure. My apoligies for the one opening the can of blazing rage of fire, didn't think one question of notice would get out of hand. ;P
Even though the content warning is functional now, Hentairules hasn´t changed a bir about content and manteinance. Thanks for taking the time to give the explanation and stuff!
I SPAMMED CLICKED GOING TO TEH WIKI PORN PAGE! SO MUCH FUN! :DD But no, in all seriousness, it is a very major annoyance. Alas, what can be done other than comply? Oh well. It isn't THAT much of a hassle. Again, just an annoyance. Like that fly that buzzes about when you're busy…OR WHEN SOMEONE DOESN'T GET YOU SOUVENIR NIPPLE CLAMPS! GOOD DAY, SIR OLIVER. -_0
There was only ONE pair of nipple clamps. I kept them for me, MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA !!
Oliver.. Are you using hostgator still or a different webhost.. Because i have been using them since 2004 with my site hentai-atlantis.com an i have not had that problem.. But i do have a warning page but doesn't popup or anything. All I have is Terms an Conditions which there is a link on the top of the page.. Which is considered as a content warning page
Nah, I use OVH for Hentairules.
Hahaha, this is absurd =) I came to this page, but I could CLEARLY see a picture of some chick getting drilled in the background.
It's pointless, as you say; there is no way someone came here on ACCIDENT. But just made me laugh =)
HAHAHA man i thought that i had logged on the wrong site for a sec.
I think a content warning is okay on some sites but seriously, not if it's so soft that no one can be harmed and hentairules can't harm anyone as same as a normal porno can't harm anyone. Very absurd but I don't care that it's now here. I like hentairules and I will stay here as long as it's here. Hopefully this will be forever
I don't mind it, I mean, come on it's just one click.
And I think it's better to get annoyed by a pop-up then getting Olivers site shut down.
Whew! Thanks for the heads up. When I saw it yesterday I was worried the site had been hacked and that clicking yes would invite a virus.
Not that it stopped me, but I was worried.
But alls as well as can be expected. I liked the no-warning site better, but all good things come to an end. Oliver, you gotta do whatcha gotta do; or one day wake up with your avatar's severed head in your bed. The spice must flow! Make mine Hentairules!
Is that why I kept getting 403 forbidden pages the other day?
No, it was another problem, a script became wild and brought the server to its knees, my web host plugged me off (it's shared hosting) to protect the other users and in case it was a hack. It was just me screwing up, actually.
bonjour,
/*
WARNING – check your age before entering!!!
MON_IMAGE_WARNING
OUI
NON
*/
function createCookieCheckAge(oui_non){
var expire = new Date();
var dixAn = expire.getTime() + (10*365*24*60*60*1000);
expire.setTime(dixAN);
document.cookie = “ageCheck=”+oui_non;expires=” + expire.toGMTString();
if (oui_non == “oui”){
location.href = $_GET[‘current’];
} else {
location.href = “http://www.google.com”;
}
}
/*
*/
function checkAgeOnLoad()
{
var dataName = “ageCheck”;
var cookieLen = dataName.length;
var cookieData = document.cookie;
var allcookieLen = cookieData.length;
var ageCheck = “absent”;
var i = 0;
var cookieEnd;
while(i < allcookieLen)
{
var j = i + cookieLen;
if (cookieData.substring(i,j) == dataName)
{
cookieEnd = cookieData.indexOf(";", j);
if (cookieEnd == -1)
{
cookieEnd = cookieData.length;
}
ageCheck = cookieData.substring(j+1, cookieEnd))
}
i++;
}
switch (ageCheck){
case "oui":
//ne rien faire pour continuer sur la page choisie
break;
case "non":
//rediriger sur google.fr
location.href = "http://www.google.com";
break;
case "absent":
//rediriger sur page de warning
location.href = "http://MA_PAGE_DE_WARNING¤t="+unescape(self.location.pathname);
break;
case default:
//rediriger sur page de warning
location.href = "http://MA_PAGE_DE_WARNING¤t="+unescape(self.location.pathname);
break;
}
}
