Hey Oliver. i just read your "wall of text" and yes, a maid it's just a job, in real life!!! Yes, some themes are maybe boring to death for someone, but please, please, remember that this is The Hentai World, man! One of it's greatest charms is that you can find stories that have no chance in real life, so I'm begging you to be not so rude if some of us are attracted by stuffs like this, okay?
Well, as long as concerned to me, I will always respect your opinion, even if you don't give a fuck about it.
See ya, man.
Did I sound rude or offensive ?
Back in my country, it's common for middle class to have maids. We have 3 maids at home, of usually older age, and I'm not even close to rich. And yeah, they're just jobs, and that's been the culture for quite a long time.
It's unlike the US which you hire maids for $$ just for cleaning your apartment- once.
Please, can you tell me what is your country ? I'm curious o_O
Are you by any mean live in SE asia?
I live in India, and yeah it's very common. But lol no these maids have absolutely nothing to do with the reality, which is often tired, rather pleasant, old women.
A lot more man servants in india than maids tho… at least from what I've seen.
Btw Oliver, is your Random Post link not working?
It's a three-persons diagram, "browser — ISP — my web host" incompatibility issue with the way headers are processed. It's too complicated to explain (convenient way of saying I didn't understand it very clearly myself). But, sadly, if it doesn't work for you, there's no helping it, a small minority of the users has that bug, sadly.
Oh, I forgot. Try with another browser, chances are it may work.
Oliver, I think you are taking this *way* too seriously. I mean, did you even read the bottom part of this page of the manga?

That is pure comedy GOLD, and I am shocked that you didn't even bother to make it one of your sample pictures. But anyways, just try and lighten up a bit, please?
Read my twitter feed of yesterday evening, Zathael, if you want to know why I was in a pissed off mood
(short hint : "teething")
But I stand to my rant : I hate the idea of women brainwashing themselves deliberately until they're like dogs wagging their tail at their master-sama.
OK, it's hentai and so we deal with it – after all, we also bear with stuff we may not like, like futa, loli, incest, fatties, hentai rape, it's always "taking what we like, ignoring what we don't like". But just this once, I HAD to say it.
I don't just love women's bodies, I also love their souls, and when they lessen their value themselves, it saddens me as a rare form of waste…
I hold the same values. Nevertheless, I'm also very masochistic (to my own astonishment even), so I still can't bring myself to hate things I might otherwise object to completely, such as rape and the dehumanizing of women. Of course, I should emphasize that that only apples to the fictional world.
That's true as well, even within the real world. Some people enjoy that kind of play. When it comes down to it, its all just an act or a ruse to intensify the excitement of sex. Another thing that most people miss is: some men like it too (GASP!), yes, it's a fact. Some times the feeling of being dominated can be pleasurable. Of course, there is such a thing as going too far. But, if the partners decide to take turns being dominator and dominated, or even if they don't and they enjoy maintaining their individual roles, especially if its only within the context of sex, then who really cares what happens behind other ppls closed doors?
I just love the way that Hotate draws those faces. Those are just so mesmerizing. Thanks YQII, Conan and Oliver for sharing here.
well, if i might be correct, the suffix -sama is not necessarily belittling one's self, it's more of a sign of respect, like sensei is. calling someone -sama could mean something similar to Sir or ma'am or madam. And i also think when they do reference to master, their referencing them as the master of the house and NOT the master of themselves. I mean I totally get where your coming from. It sounds almost like slavery. But slavery and a job have 2 main distinctions: money and respect. Slaves are not paid, butlers and maids are. Slaves get no respect, butlers and maids at least get a 'please get me this' and a 'thank you for getting me that'. I could also reference it to being a kind of etiquette. Just as it is etiquette fir the master of the house to take care of and provide for their maids and butlers, those workers are expected to show gratitude, loyalty, and respect for their employer. In the end, it's kinda like how we call our employers 'boss' or 'Mr' or 'Mrs so and so'. I don't know if this made any sense or helped in any way, but its just my 2 cents.
What he said. The "-sama" suffix signifies utmost respect, nothing more. As in, the kind of respect you show to a CEO of a company–even if you're one yourself. As in, the kind of respect you typically show to someone when you're sending them a love letter. As in, nothing even CLOSE to brainwashing or slavery.
If I've missed something, feel free to correct me.
I think you did a pretty good job of summarizing things. Thank You.
what joseph said, however i just want to add the maids in hentai world doesn't accept currency as payment, most of them prefer to have babies from their master / boss :p
CONAN REPORTING FOR DUTY. Even though I edited this, am I the only one who thought WTF at: the dude drinking his own drugged water to make sure it's drugged (or was he drinking the girl's drink?) Either way, this felt like such a clunky way of getting to the sex scene.
I didn't think WTF, my thoughts were more like /facepalm. But yeah, I agree that it was one of the lamest excuses for a sex scene ever. I loved everything else about the chapter though, especially the panel where she says "Everything is fine except for nipple fucking, fisting, and enema. I don't think I'm prepared for that yet."
Wait wait wait wait. isnt -sama just like someone saying "sir" or "madam" or "ma'am" in english. its a form of respect to say -sama to your employer isn't it. you wouldn't say "you" or "hey" to your employer
LOLOL just realised Joseph just said exact same thing as me. just ignore this comment lol
TBH, I don't see any reason to believe Yoriko is self-brainwashed. She shows normal behavior such as indignation to harmful rumors toward Kazuomi and can normally speak her pleasures to Kazuomi during the ero-scene like any other person. Finally, Yoriko subtly avoids answering Kazuomi's question on marrying another woman and emotionally responds when he says she alone holds the decision to his fate which suggests comprehension.
What I've established is that she shows a devotion unbecoming of someone who treats her maid status as only a job. I believe the reason she wants to serve Kazuomi to the best of her ability is because she honestly loves him. Graciously, Kazuomi loves her just as much and proves that by actually serving her wants and desires during the love scene and tries to imply marriage to Yoriko in the last page.
Granted it can be confusing when she shows uncommon sense for comedic effect such as speaking sex acts in public and being 'number 2. And I suppose the first four panels were questionable but I've considered them to be gratuitous service for the reader since they were colored pages and independent of the story.
But overall, I don't see any real sign of brainwashing throughout the entire story while taking into account the normal signs of brainwashing you would usually see in darker doujinshi (ahegaos, lewd desires for defilement, wishing to be treated like a worthless animal, etc).
-sama is at its heart just the polite/formal version of -san, akin to the German Sie instead of Du. Many store clerks use it to describe customers and given the use of -san in everyday conversation -sama really just means 'mister'.
How the Japanese fetishize it though… well isn't that why we love their comics? ^^
I think the point that Oliver wanted to point out was:
Maid/Master and Slave/Master Relationships uccur in every average Manga and i really can understand that someone living in modern cultures feel deeply sad or about the thought of human beings reduced to deliberatly servant dogs.
But its not so long that we so deeply were into this system of organized slavery and even superior race thoughts were very common in the country i live.
We anticipated the system from ancient rome and not really abandoned from it. Its really sad to say that in our deepest and strongest feelings it always will come up in one or the other way. The fruit of manipulation and domination over somebody elses mind and body is far too sweet to cast away.
To make it short the Master/Maid (Narcism/Masochism) is very alive and so strong when its awakend, though its deeply inhumanly in the Humanists' way of thinking.
So lets have all more of oxitocin in our life and say Oliver Twist is from yesterday.
We are the love and peace generation and we live just like that wherever we may live or go.

is her hair black or brown cant tell
Yes, madame. No, madame. Yes, sir. No, sir. These are all common uses by servants, and can be considered similiar to the addition of "-sama" in Japan when used by servants, in this case, maids.
This being Japan, naturally there's more to it than just that. In the real world, maids are just that, maids. However, there is the reality of families serving higher ranking families for generations. This is part of Japanese history. Add that addional level of deference that exists in all Japanese society for those of higher status, plus maids being in a naturally subservient position, mix in the audience this is designed for, and Bam! instant fantasy.
i like maids
i think -sama is just a way addressing some one of status. though back in my country we use words to signify and respect old people. even greeting my parents we had to use a similar word like" -sama"
again different cultures, i think it's actually amazing how different people are in the other side of the world. a country might think this is appropriate while others see it as a taboo and such.
then again i don't want to go to all those politics, i just wanna enjoy the material here
