Yeah, but Sweet Lip set the bar pretty fucking high. This book is still one of the better tanks out there, in my not-so-humble opinion.

That is not a bomber jacket in the least, Oliver. It's a form of winter jacket without a hood. Those bulges are insulation. You see it more in areas where the winters, while cold enough to produce snow and blizzards, are still relatively mild (around 0° C as opposed to -20° C), thus reducing the need for a hood. Odds are, that the setting of this chapter is inland central Honshu, perhaps Nagano.

No, it's not. A bomber jacket (from the 1940's) is leather with a mostly fur lining.

Maybe some more contemporary jacket company came out with something that they call a bomber jacket, with the insulated bulges that ??? is talking about, and that this manga shows. But even if they call it a bomber jacket, it really isn't.

Basically, I am trying to say that Bomber Jacket is a term that should *specifically* refer to a style of jacket worn by actual pilots and/or bomber crewmen in the 1940's. The poofy jacket shown in this manga does not qualify. It looks more like something a skier would wear.
Well, thanks for covering me, Zathael. I remember seeing these exact type of jackets during school in the northeastern US in winter. If it is called a bomber jacket in the manga itself, it's because the translator Did Not Do The Research, and probably lives in an area where winter is warm, or is so cold that the type of jacket shown would be useless (on account of lacking a hood).

We didn't say anything about the jacket in the manga. If it was mentioned in the manga, that would probably be a simple winter or ski jacket. Please don't blame me for mistakes I didn't make
