When you return some feedback… Please, seriously, give enough information ! :D
Hello everyone
This is a small post for all the kind persons who are cool enough to take some of their time to report feedback with some stuff on Hentairules
Don’t take it badly, but I need to highlight something : unless you provide enough information, your precious time is wasted and your feedback is of no use. Which is a sad waste
For instance : the file hosts. In 2008 already, I was explaining that YOUR personal situation is in no way bound to be everybody’s situation. And yet, some file hosts definitely fuck around with some categories of people (lots of Americans, lately, are punished for having such massive dicks at the heads of their country). In that case, to take an example seen recently in the comments, a report about a filehost not working after the timer ends are only useful if you report your country, and tell if you tried the usual (other browser, waiting 20 minutes before trying again, etc…).
Skipping to another suject : the file hosts and the shitty bandwidth they provide, as you can see, I’ve tested a lot of them recently.
–> Please click that link and wait a few seconds for the javascript to load, it will load a precise comment.
Summary : in the short term, most filehosts are in pain, nobody can absorb the crazy traffic resulting from the disappearance of the biggest filehosts ever (megaupload, filesonic, and a few others) and its move to previously much smaller filehosts, it’s a whole ecosystem that must rebuild itself while facing financial hardships. And, me, because I have so many other things to do other than reuploading and because I’d love to provide at least always one working link in my shares, I’m working on building a “self-hosting my own files” solution, but I have troubles making a “cool solution for everyone” that would be financially viable.
I understand what ur going though Oliver, im not complaining. I know that you can only do what you can that is humanly possible. God Speed Man!
I like to think of your situation as letting the gangreen take your arm while your spending all your time building a badass cybernetic replacement.
Granted, most people would think that it's madness to let a perfectly good arm go to waste, but I think looking at the prize of a fully functioning cyborg arm that can crush the heads of my enimies makes it all worth it.
Or I can use a more common metaphor and say' "You need to fix the holes in the fence before you start putting your sheep back in, cause they'll just run right back through when you turn your back".
Either way, youre doing good putting your time into your own fileshare service, cause thats what's better for US in the long run, cybernetic battle sheep aside.
i'd be a premium member. Love this site.
Take your time 'reviving' this file sharing issue.
I can't compare your site to others like tadanohito and fakku (geh fakku's downloads are often down) who has built up their servers over time, having direct downloads.
So that. We're waiting, but as long as there are new hentai coming, that's what we have time to fap to anyway. (Especially at work days when we get translated tankoubons.. I don't even have time to fap through all of it)
(This comment was in the spam queue, sorry if it was invisible for a while)
Haha my post went to the spam queue as usual.
Btw, I have serious connection issues with DF and filevelocity today – I don't have any fancy stuff like proxy etc, but is anyone else having issues too?
Using chrome, the page name loads and the page loads VERY slowly so the download link is not available for DF and I have to wait for a long time for filevelocity.
read: this is not a download speed issue. This is accessing the site itself.
EDIT: Looks like it choked. Back to normal immediately. And filevelocity giving me speeds ~250 kbps
Caska re-enabled DDL for HFH. I'll continue to use DF though.
Yeah, I feel like all of the non-US cyberlockers are practically forcing Americans to no longer use their site. The speeds are just nonexistent anymore. (And the American ones are cracking down on piracy or being used over capacity) I used to get like 200kbps at DF without Gold, now I only get 30…. I haven't had Gold since Christmas so I can't test how fast it is with Gold :x
Since i am able to use df gold by paying via mobile i gave it a go, its prettty good
i was able to dl 4-5 files at 1ce each abt 100 to 200 kbps (im using a 10mb speed net)
so it aint that bad
I used to get 3000kbps with Gold
Most unfortunately for me, NONE of your download links have ever worked for me… (other than Megaupload, and I think you had a few Mediafire links – Mediafire is, most unfortunately, the only file hosting website that works properly for me, other than Megaupload). For some reason, they always say that I "have another file in parallel download", or something along that line, and thus I can't download. I asked a few friends about this problem and the best answer they could give me was that I was torrenting while trying to download. Most unfortunately, I still couldn't download even when not torrenting. So yeah hope this feedback helps!
Do you have a dynamic IP?
I'm not really tech-savvy, but I don't think I have it – considering I just set up my internet myself and just went for pretty much the default settings. I doubt my scumbag ISP would be so "nice" to give me whatever addons or etc though
When you turn off your computer and turn it back on, do you have a different IP or the same one?
http://www.whatsmyip.org/
same IP…
Do you share your Internet with other people? Like a school, hotel, motel, apartment, family, etc.
Are you on an unsecured network? Someone else could be using your wifi.
Most unfortunately, no. This is my home network…
Is it unsecure?
As far as I know, it is (and should be)
If you don't mind me asking, what's your ISP? Not your IP address, the company that you pay for your Internet.
Using depositfiles cause of you.
Works fine most of the time except for usual minor distiurbances that all filehosters seem to have.
No, i rephrase: if you would use a premium depositfile, you wouldnt have notice the actual circumstances.
But i am sorry since i collect all kind of manga / hentai you are not my only resoruce, so i wouldnt go premium. Especially since i know many of your sources (saha / tonigobe / tadanohito / etc etc ).
This page is VERY VERY convienient for me and i am VERY gratefull.
Still goin' for premium users might be an idea, see tadas homepage.
Even depositfiles sucks now, 30kbps? Grr.. hope they get their sh*t sorted out
Sorry Oliver I did not mean to be rude
Depositfile’s back to reasonable speed (100 kbp/s) here in Italy
How about giving people in the US access to an IRC channel where you have people set-up f-servs?
deposit files capped you at 30kb? i am capped @ 8-9kb, so for 16MB short doujins, it takes hours, with occasional stops (o.okb) between, causing dropped half-assed downloads.
file velocity seems to be okay at best, i get decent speeds @ 60kb/s. i can tell it’s definitely the services’ subtle restrictions, because i can download Steam games and other items at 1.5MB/s that are not from these manga/doujin/hentai sites.
sometimes i will start downloads when i go to bed, but those never finish overnight – they always end up at 0.0kb DL speeds and are cancelled at 1 or 2%.
i live on the west coast in california, USA
I normally use the depositefiles bacause may it help you and i dont have any problems besides the suck download speed. I made a post talking about the mediafire and im sorry if i was inconvenient .I hope you can find a good way to please everyone including you oliver.
I normally use depositfiles because I like you man, but if you’re looking for a new host give megashares a try, everytime I’ve used it the speeds were really, and I mean REALLY good.
Well Oliver, since you didn't clearly stated what kind of feedback you wanted, I'll just say some stuff and hope it's useful.
First of all, I'm Brazilian and my download speed can top at around 450~500 kb/s. I usually use all three mirrors made available, and here's my results: on DF I can get the best speed, usually 100kb/s. All the other recent sites have very unstable speed, varying between 20~50 kb/s. It's not an amazing speed, but it's more than enough for files up to 50mb.
I'm in Saskatchewan, Canada. Because of you Oliver I bought the one year DF gold. So before the Takedown, I was getting about 550kbs max. Mostly because of the ISP's limitations (SaskTel can't get me any better than that at my current residence). Now I seem to be capped at about 450kbs at what are the quiet times. Peak hours trying to download, I'll get from 40 to 90kbs per download (for usual 3-4 files simultaneously). So trying at a different time of day may help.
I'm just glad I screwed up that filesonic purchase in January.
So yeah, DF is probably groaning under the strain. Sometimes yes the download will timeout before it starts, but mediafire does that to me too.
On a positive note, I've been able to download some files from fileserve. Perhaps filesonic will too.
for now I only use Depositfiles, here in the Philippines
what happened to Deposit files??
it is now 30kps wtf?!?!?!
now i can't download them big files in a few minutes :\
Sharerun.com is cool for me.. nice DL speed for free user, support DL accelerator and resume capability.. oh yeah, just FYI sharerun changed their domain name and now became syfiles.com
oh my!
of course i use depositfile PREMIUM!
means i pay them
tseh…
o.0
Gotta say, it sucks for Americans who paid for premium accounts at some of the file sharing sites and then they block them. Pretty much all of the non-US ones block US ISPs now.
My theory for why the kps is so low now is because DF probably has alot more traffic than they can keep up with since alot of the major file share sites went down. Everybody is probably flooding to the sites that still actually work and its slowing it down for everybody.
(I will admit that I probably dont know what I'm talking about, but that sounds like it makes sense to me.)
it isn't so much that the sites are being flooded because of lost sites, but they are being flood because they are still American friendly. Many, many sites are blocking American ISPs in retaliation for Megaupload and such, and the sites left have to deal with one of the largest internet user bases going to the only places left for them.
