First thing : even if I have lots of friends very much involved in the new market of digital publishing, ebooks and the like, I don’t have stuff like that at home, neither a reader, nor a tab (I’ll never buy such an infamous offence to the environment, rot in hell Steve Jobs, we don’t have 12 planets and unlimited oil and minerals to all live in braindead consumerism as you propagandized it). So I couldn’t test if it looks good or not, okay ? ;)

Now, after I made lots of friends by insulting Steve Jobs and all the proud geeky tabs owners (look, I have nothing against readers  ), let’s proceed to the poll :D

Would it be interesting for you, to have a PDF version of the hentai books, in order to be able to read it on your
– readers, kindles, Kobos, and the like ?
– or on your tabs, ipad, galaxy pad, and the like ?

I’m taking opinions, I don’t plan to follow a majority vote, if only a handful of persons are interested I’ll rather preserve my own free time ;) Constructive suggestions (unlike “please create an ebook3 with full CSS3+JS support on which you’ll spend 45 minutes per book“) are also welcome :)

Are you interested in a PDF version of the hentai books, for readers and pads ?

Most tablets have apps in their store that allow for reading image zips as if they were ebooks. I highly recommend Cloudreaders on iOS.(more are available) And there are even more on Android. (Droid Comic Viewer, Perfect Viewer, etc.) I used to work on an iOS app myself, but abandoned that in favor of an HTML5 alternative.

Packing pdfs seems like a waste of your valuable time. ;)

Ofcourse apps like that are only useful if you download the zips in advance.

+1 for what Ganonmaster said. CloudReaders can read *.zip & *.rar based archives including the cb ones as well..

Also, iComic has been around that does zip & cbz… so iPad folks can read manga just fine, no need to make PDF comics.

Furthermore, for the Mac folks they can use 'The UnArchiver' to burst open RAR files, then re-zip them with BetterZip or other zip tools.

I voted no. Android based tablets have cbr/cbz/rar/zip readers that give much more efficient results than PDF readers. For Android users I recommend Perfect Viewer (check the market). To read on a PC, I strongly recommend Honey View http://www.honeyview.org/. When I have no option but downloading comics in PDF, I simply convert them to CBR. In short, PDF is a pain in the ass for comics, and I am not a faggot to be interested in such a sort of pain.

Same opinion. I use Perfect Viewer too on my Archos tab, it's the ideal application for that. The "invisible" controls for prev/next/zoom/etc allow to view the image without interference, and you can easily switch between fit-to-height and fit-to-large zoom. And if your zip files are correctly named, no need to repack, just use the "next/prev book" buttons.
Well, it also has a PDF plugin, but I prefer the zip format, less CPU consuming.

On my PC, I still use ACDsee 5.0. Fast, light, very easy to use, but other archive formats are not fully handled, so ZIP too for the PC.

I read everything I get on either my Android Tab or rooted Nook Color. In both cases I use dropbox to get them to me and I just view each as a picture. I can then rename or delete if needed and when I get home archive if needed. PDFs and other eReader friendly formats work very well I think for actual books but the instant that pictures are involved they do a poor job. If someone really wants to their are ways out there to convert to the eReader formats and then those limited few can deal with the degradation of quality. Also by not having you do the conversion you have more time to post the excellent manga that you do. I'm sure if someone really gets into the converting they will share the love with those who want that format.

I'd have to go with "no". There are ways to read .zip files on your reader/tab that have been mentioned in the above comments. It's just not worth your valuable time to worry about.

I vote no. Don't waste your valuable time on doing something that a third party software can do at fraction of the time. We need your time wasted on providing more material. Think of it like this – more time on something that some people would benefit or more time on something that everyone will benefit

I think those who vote yes don't seem to realize that this effort no matter how small it may seem can burn someone out, which t hen leads to less time on other material

As others have said there are apps both on iOS and Android that are capable of reading archives. So making a PDF wouldn't make much sense.

I voted no. Mainly because i dont use tablets and smart phones. But i am curious. Some of you guys actually dare to watch at porn when u are travelling in train/airplane ? or Sitting in wait ? Wont people take a sneak peak at what u are doing ? Wont u get a boner and how would u handle that shit ? lol :D

1. I don't take planes and trains everyday, but I certainly don't read porn in buses or in the underground, but even at home a tablet is more efficient/comfortable for comics than the PC, anyway. Besides, there will be moments at work, during your free time, that you are alone or with people as pervert as you.
2. Getting a boner is never the problem. What sort of clothes you wear? Unless your dick is as big as your left leg, a boner is not exactly visible. Everyone has boners all the time and the world doesn't notice, as far as I know. Of course, a boner can be embarrassing at the beach or at the nudist camp.

The only people I can see this helping are people with a Kindle…

But why would you be reading hentai on a Kindle? That screen (like smartphones) is just WAY too small. Not to mention black and white, so you can't even see fullcolor mangas in color.

I Think that to make PDF is a waste of your time. Mos (if not all) readers and tabs has apps or native suport for rar or zip files with images inside. (.cbr and .cbz) formats. I read the comics in an Ipad and I have friends who read them on a Galaxy tablet or other android-based tablets. Also, some ereaders have native suport for crb. files, and, if your reader has not support for it, you can conver any zip file to epub format in your pc/mac using the marvellous free library organizer program called calibre (search for calibre ebooks). It will convert almost any ebook (or “e-comic”) format to one format supported by your reader (even to PDF).
So, thank you very much for your offer but I think it will be a waste of your time. If finally you decide to make the conversion, I’ll recommedn you to try using calibre because yo can conver also to epub or other formats and you can select several files to make the “automatic” conversion and go to take a coffe (or read the new hentai manga) while it makes the conversion.

Not realy. I read my hentai on PC, and ACDSee is good enough to read hentai (on JPEG). And i still love my paper book, only resorting to e-book for difficult to get books.

Not really useful for me… not sure about readers, but tablets read .ZIP with images easily.

Even though I do not own an Ipad or whatever, I voted yes. It could indeed be useful to have PDF on PC, because I personnaly think Adobe Reader is a better viewer than Microsoft's image viewer. More possiblities.
Not a priority at all, though.

They don't use Microsoft's viewer. Use Mangameeya or ACDSee for manga for example

i hate PDF comics and PDF Mangas.
I have a pc and a tablet (ipad) and there are very good comic readers on all platforms to read rar / cbr / zip / cbz and so on.
I use comic rack on pc and comic glass on my ipad and my opinion is, that compic pdf are not a waste of time, not they are a pain in the ass.
vote is of course NO

oops i meant
NO, they (comic/manga pdf) are a pain in the ass.
IMO pdf is better for flowing texts where manga and comics are picture based.
Someone who uses the microsoft picture viewer to read those hentai is just plain stupid.
I have almost 2TB on comics an mangas there is no way all will fit on my ipad, but i have a selection on it. And no i wouldnt watch hentai in a train, but in the hotel or guestroom.

on iOS i love GoodReader (it can handle every readable format AND zip files); for the little kindle i love to read mangas (it's just the right dimension) with a little conversion with Calibre.

For android tabs you can just download android comic book viewer. and on windows tabs you can download comic book viewer. Im sure the Mac tards have some sort of viewer all of which can natively open zip files without extracting them, so no point in putting it in the clunky/bulky pdf format.

Not sure about anyone else, but I often prune the stuff I download. In many collections I may only like 1 out of 12 stories for example, so I just remove what I don’t like. Not so much to save space, but in case I go back and read it again I don’t have to sift through the garbage again.

Oh, Kinda missed the point I was trying to make. I can clean out images, but pdfs are generally not convinient to edit that way.

It's not needed. At least on iOS there's an app called CloudReader, you can read cbz and cbr on that. That's how i read all my comics, manga, etc :)

Dunno about android, but i think it's practically impossible there is not an app for that.

There are apps for Android that can load websites that host hentai mangas (just the image, not all of the clusterfuck around it like ads and shit), so you don't even have to download it in a zip file.

But there are apps to open CBZ, CBR, ZIP, RAR etc. In fact the one I just mentioned can also open mangas in archives.

I sometimes download and view Hentairules stuff, among other files of a similar make, on my ipod touch if i don't have my laptop with me. But it's pretty much the equivalent of a PDF for all I care. It sounds like a lot of work for barely any return so I'd rather you didn't waste your time.

Dear Lord, no ! PDF must die ! This format is a piece of crap and there's always a light and open format that will do the same thing, only better, like epub. (I had to programmatically produce PDFs on the fly so I had to read the 1200 pages spec, and I'm sure you can find satanic messages in it).

Ara

It was at first, but now I wonder… If I spend the same amount of time on a program that would look for every words/sentences combinations in the damn spec and with enough ways to sum or read them, it's large enough to find what you want. :D
