Hi there, if you’ve got coding skills, especially regarding wordpress, could I ask for a bit of help, please ? If you have some free time ? :)

There are two things that I would like to add to my blog, but there are no working plugins to do it at the moment… and I would really love help with it, is someone interested ? ;)

– Point 1 : adding tags.

I BLOODY WANT TO ADD A TAGS SYSTEM ! :D

With a precision : a user-added tags system. In which it’s not only me, but also the visitors that can add tags to the posts. Otherwise, chosing what tags to add would take me lots of time, and there would be endless requests to add or remove tags to the posts, and dispute about my choice of tags – I don’t have time for that, lol.
Maybe in bonus, a tag could get also voted down and removed if enough people act in this direction.

I’ve tested the Tag This, Wp_Folksonomy and Easy Tagger plugins, all three of them were too old and weren’t working anymore with the current wordress.
Maybe, for a coder, rather than start from scratch, it would be faster and easier to update the Add This plugin and make it wordpress compliant again ! I asked the wordpress devs, it’s allowed to fork a plugin whose development has been abandoned for more than a year….

This tags system is something that I would REALLY like to add, could someone code it, by chance, maybe ? :)

– Point 2 : advanced exclusive search.

At the moment, this is NOT possible, within wordpress, to perform a Search telling that “I want this, and this, but I do NOT want that, and that”. The “not” part is only possible if you hand-code super-complex php and sql stuff, not from a search form.
I think this would bring a great value added, if there was a “real advanced search” plugin to allow to search like that on a dedicated page (not replacing the default search), for instance…

Help would be welcome, thanks a LOT to whoever is willing to help :)

Ah, that's an original idea, you mean that, inside a wordpress page, with fields to fill in and boxes to tick, to customize a google search with the site:hentairules.net option ?

That's an interesting idea O_o

And you'd have an idea about it ?

Custom Search Engine

Might be better to search Wordpress plugin already automating the integration of this thing.

Is hentai rules just a wordpress page? Is it really that simple to create a site like you'res? I should really get on that.

Why "JUST" a wordpress page ? Wordpress is one of the best CMSes in the world and can be used very extensively, Hentairules is only brushing the surface of all the things wordpress can do…

It's a blog that runs on the Wordpress Content Management system, yes. It is in no way hosted by or affiliated with Wordpress.

Since I've ran websites before, I can give a light insight into this I suppose.

Creating a site is rudimentary simple, the problem lies in being able to afford it and having time to dedicate to it. You can take the quick way out and use a CMS, or you could go the long road and code your own site completely from scratch (effectively creating your own CMS, but obviously this requires extensive knowledge of php, sql and many other code languages). Other well known CMS' include Joomla, PHP-Fusion and PHP-Nuke. I'm particularly partial to Splash Frog myself. http://www.splashfrog.com/

Oh, and in the case of a website like this one, being able to hide your identity and have the ability to deal with lawsuits (as copyright infringement is punishable by fines and jail time in most countries) is a plus.

maybe the tagging system can be joined with the search feat. ie search by tag > Include/ exclude this tags. either way easiest option maybe google engine. though user must add '-' function themselves
