The two are Usami Renko and Maribel Hearn (she’s usually nicknamed Merry because Renko has trouble pronouncing her name). They live outside Gensokyo borders, where civilization is advanced enough that bamboo shoots are only found synthesized. They usually appear in ZUN’s music CDs.
The two are part of the (two-member) Sealing Club, which basically observe stuff like the moon, ghosts, and Gensokyo. Renko studies super-unified physics and is a walking GPS. Maribel studies relative psychology and can see boundaries.
