Well this is based on the reboot of evagelion, not the original series based on the fact Mari being in the other books. Shinji so far isn't the patheic person he was in the orginal series.
Plus this is hentai based on anime, so pretty much anything like trueness to characters is pretty much chucked out the window. ;D
