A few songs I felt like sharing :)
I’m in the mood to share a bit of music, if you like ^^
Soldier, live from Contrabendo, by Calvin Russell
I discovered this genius with his Contrabendo double-CD+DVD, and this was one of “why didn’t I discover him ten years ago ?!?” moments. Three months after this, Calvin Russell died. Adieu l’artiste, you will be missed.
Hyperventilate, Milliontown album, by Frost
Not many lyrics. I thought this might be a pleasant intro to prog rock
Starry Sky YEAH! Remix, mixing Daft Punk (Technologic), Capsule (Starry Skys) and the Beastie Boys (some song)
Better than black coffee.
Fuzzy Duck, Fuzzy Duck album, Country Boy
I’d be tempted to say nobody’s playing awesome shit like that nowadays, regrettably, but I suppose it would be more accurate to say it will take another 30 years for gems like that to be found among the mass of crap produced all the time, haha :-/
Swanee River, Let Them Talk album, by Hugh Laurie
That one, most of you must have heard it already. So, a popular television actor can play and sing good music It’s like he “revived” the Swanee River song, all other versions I could find were dull and half-asleep in comparison, save Ken Colyer’s and Chuck Berry’s
As a conclusion : hey, if you know music of the same kind, you’re welcome to leave comments, information, and possibly links ^_^
Especially regarding Prog Rock, it’s a genre I discovered less than two years ago, I’m still busy discovering it, Spock’s Beard, Roine Stolt and The Flower Kinds, Unitopia, Van Der Graaf Generator, Karmakanic, Oceansize, Asia, Hypnos69, I’m sure there are many others worth listening to :3
That Starry Sky YEAH! Remix is awesome. Thanks for sharing it.
=) I remember when you posted Starry Sky remix however long ago it was. I never would have thought a song recommended to me from a Hentai blogger would have ended up being my favorite song out there!
Listening to the others now, I'm excited to hear what you've recommended this time.
Soldier – Not a musical genre I enjoy, so I won't comment.
Frost – Hyperventilate: Switched between techno/trance vibes and Dream Theater a lot. I wish it had picked one or the other, but it still made its way to my playlist.
Funky Duck – See Soldier.
Let Them Talk – Hugh Laurie, aka Dr. House singing this is reason enough for me to rate this highly! (He sings it with his native British accent, too bad =P ) I did enjoy it though, old timey-swing style.
If you'll allow me to make one recommendation =) I see one techno song, and one swing song on here… May I present a song of the Electro-Swing genre, Clash by Caravan Palace: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sBZdSHAIZI
If you want to rip any of these songs from YouTube, go download Real Player. Don't set it to anything default, but it automatically plugs into Mozilla (probably other browsers, too), and mousing over a video in Youtube will bring a non-obtrusive, killable slide with the option to download, see: http://imgur.com/KnRlo
Thanks for the new songs, Oliver =)
I can't stop to recommend the British band Porcupine Tree:
"The Start of Something Beautiful" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIqCPQZIC5Y&f…
and
"Way out of Here" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95QS3c_Tei4
BTW I bow in front of Gavin Harriso, Best Prog Drummer in 2008.
May I learn to play like him next life
Already fan of Calvin Russell.
Hyperventilate reminded me of Ayreon – Human Equation (Album) you should listen to it. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8A8716CBA1…
I'll stay with Technologic!!!
Fuzzy Duck – Country boy. Mmmm… not bad but not in the mood right now.
Swanee River. Always good! Chuck Berry the best!!!
i'm loving your music choices. Fuzzy duck is always a great fallback album.
Earlier this year, I started a music blog dedicated to musicians giving away albums for free. Its Jumblymusic.blogspot.com if you're interested. I was inspired by your blog and how successful it has been. I only hope i'm remotely as successful.
I'll give it a look, thank you
i was pretty big into Spock's Beard and the Flower Kings as a teenager. you ought to check out Transatlantic. it has Roine Stolt, Neal Morse(Spock's Beard), the drummer from Dream Theater and the bassist from some band idr
it was like listening to the best of Spock's Beard and Flower Kings, though
Gee, I’m now mouthwatering. I’ll give it a go, thank you
