I thought so too and supposely the MC of accel world.
Imagine the typical overweight, ugly, and smelly janitors in those drugged mindbreak NTR hentai anime/manga, then super-impose him over fatboy.

Accel World seems kind of groundbreaking in that respect, doesn't it?
I can't recall any other series where the MC was a short, fat little butterball, with no athletic inclinations (and none built up over the course of the series). There's been some shorties, some nerds, but usually they were at least drawn in a way readers/viewers would be able to find attractive on some level.
Should I applaud the originality or seriously wonder the author's marketing sense?
Then again, taken another way, the "cool Main Character" representing the show isn't so much Haru Butterball, but the sleek and metallic Silver Crow.

I suppose I don't "need" a hyperlink. I know where Google/Wikipedia are. However if what's implied is that everyone's already heard about this Accel World thing before, then I'm afraid I have to put my hand up in the Nay category.
Of course I've heard of it now… I'll bookmark it in an online anime watching site, and see if I have time to watch some of it (so many distractions these days…)
Okay, I had time today (or rather I should have been doing other stuff and didn't) and started watching it (finished ep 5). Admittedly very cool, but I'd still not heard of it before.
Actually, when I think of it, Oliver's introduced me to quite a few quality series over the years. I guess when I see that enough doujin artists start parodying a mainstream series, that I'm seeing the title over and over again, I get curious what the big deal about the series is, and check it out.
