I believe I've only read one doujin where the succubus did what she was supposed to do. It was "black winged tenma" with Morrigan from darkstalkers. Other than that good luck finding one who knows how to "do the job properly."

Technically succubbi don't steal your soul they kill in one go (they just tend to keep coming back to a person they like killing through exhaustion/to big drain of lifeforce).
Following that line the succubbi in "Purimu no nikku" qualify (as shown in the exposition of what the main bad is doing/planning) with the plot revolving about the fact that the 'hero' doesn't drop dead.
"Immu Hokenshitsu" & "Anata Wa Kyou No Ban Gohan" can also qualify on this one seeing the effect one one round and the fact that the 'hero' will be drained every day
On the line following what you expect there is "Sweetish temptation" where the end result is 1 dead human.
And possible another one is "La Nouvelle Lune". The 'heroine' is warned to either grab the 'heros' soul or be demoted by another succubus who is dragging a whole harem of men around from which she stole the souls/
I'm not really convinced, here, as I see it, succubi are meant to steal your soul, not just progressively suck out your life force.
And even if they were just life leechers, every single succubus is turned into, either a mindbroken slave, or a loving long term partner, meaning the succubi do lose their initial purpose in life, and fail to accomplish their goal
Only in Japan.
Everywhere else it's the men who becoming the mindbroken slaves… Assuming they didn't die.
"Sweetish temptation" doesn't fail in that.
And aside from that where does the general idea (it is not just you) of succubi stealing souls come from? Seeing that the historic version (huray that wikipedia exists) indeed only kills if they keep coming back for more.
Regarding "La Nouvelle Lune" by Yukino Hasegawa – one shouldn't expect the female protagonist (one half of the lovey-dovey couple) to get the S.S.O.P. (Standard Succubus Operating Procedure) right.
