Gee -_-

Sigh…
Today, my elder son asked me to help him finishing level 4-1 of Yoshi’s Island, on his DS Lite. Edit : more than any other, that part, precisely.
IT BLOODY TOOK ME 40 MINUTES TO FINALLY GET IT RIGHT !

And I still remember there was a time when I could have finished that level in one go, or remember by heart every time I’d have to go here or there, do this or that

Seriously, this evening, I suddenly feel 20 years older — at once -_-

I skipped past the SNES from the NES straight to the PSX, so never really played many SNES games in my childhood, but my skills are sharper than ever, thanks to Megaman 10.

I never got Yoshi Island. I was mostly for DKC. USed to be great (aside the first fight of Kaptain K.Rool) but now I suck like hell.

Too many RPGs and niche games.

there comes a point in man's life where i lot of things are gonna make you feel old… all the time. i'm an old raver and the "techno" these young people listen to these days…. the one that make's me feel old is seeing young girls at parties and thinking that they are probably more trouble than they are worth.

Now try finishing Tubular in Super Mario World…it makes me sad to know that I can't do it nowadays.

There is a man I work with, a big, burly, sharply-dressed man, who once used his 30-minute work break to take a bus down to the nearest GameStop to pick up Pokémon Black 2 when it came out.

No, no it's not weird.

Black and White (the first games) had the best story lines in Pokémon since, well, Red, Blue and Green. I haven't even purchased BW2 yet, but have been meaning too. The games should (mostly) run on DeSmuME, I know BW2 do as I played Black2 in Japanese when it first came out on my computer.

If you ever get a 3DS, you should try out X and Y. The graphics look phenomenal. Can't wait.

I agree. I just bought a 3ds a couple months ago, and am now glad I did.
I say the X and Y can't come out fast enough (so long as they do not feel rushed, of course).
On a related note, it is interesting that that gen VI will be the first generation to not be given the name of a color, gemstone or precious metal (though gold/silver also count as color names, I guess).
This just came to mind: I bet after the release of X and Y, there will be a third release (similar to gold/silver/crystal, ruby/sapphire/emerald, and diamond/pearl/platinum), which will be called Z, in reference to the fact that the games will be in full 3D (get it? X,Y,Z coordinates on a 3 dimensional plane?).

Honestly, I think I've kinda outgrown pokemon. I don't think it's bad, but I've just… found it less interesting than I used to, I guess.

Put it this way: which would you rather play, pokemon, a game you've played for 2/3 of your life (no really — 19 now, played it since I was six, so I can beat the games quickly. hell, i actually COMPLETED the pokedex in sapphire. all 200.)…or would you rather play a big-stompy-robot-that-blows-shit-up game like Mech Warrior Online?

I don't think it's weird, but I don't play myself anymore.

(On a side note, after ruby and sapphire came out, I predicted all the games that weren't remakes — the pattern was kinda obvious.)

Also, if you guys don't already know about this website, it's great for pokemon: http://serebii.net/index2.shtml

There, I ate my words.

Can I buy a 3DS and play the games now?

Lulz.

Been playing since I was six, on the original 3.

*shudder*
That blue & red tint on fucking EVERYTHING.

On the other hand, it had a nice built-in cheat code for duplicating items.

Uh….
Raise your hands if you ever accidentally duplicated the bicycle.

Gold, Silver and Crystal will always be my faves (Umbreon FTW!). Just saw the trailer…I'm gettin them! I usually spend time playing with my brother and some college buddies. So it isn't weird at all!

With Pokemon, the current release usually is a good starting point (right now it’s BW2).

I remember playing the original Mario Bros. on the Atari 5600 (2600? Which did I have…?)
I remember playing Contra, Zelda, Zelda II, Metal Gear on the NES…
I remember all the old games fondly.
And I am still a gamer. Beat RE6 recently, beat Tales of Graces F twice recently, and now working on another play though of ME3.

I may be mistaken, but I think I remember that neither the Snes nor the DS editions mention version numbers, they're both called Yoshi's Island…

Reminds me of playing Ninja Gaiden 2 on NES emulator a while back.
Got my ass handed to me… Used to run in through on one go back as a kid with my actual NES. No saves and whatnot. Those were the days…

And yep, another 'mon-geek reporting in. Still waiting to see, which are the exclusives for each game, so I can pick my fave. Glad I just got a brand spanking new 3DS XL.
Now, waiting for October.

mario games, no matter the version, are great fun. some time ago was just plug and play the video game, it was not necessary to watch half an hour of CG animations.

I feel the same way when one of my nieces and nephews asks about the 8-bit NES sitting on a rack in the home office.
