Thanks for the -improved- version.

fyi: It's Meme 50, not Meme50. That's kinda important. Especially when in search mode, or in a search engine. (wink)

Wordpress sucks. If he used "Meme 50" it'd show results for BOTH "meme" and "50"… "Meme50", on the other hand, would limit JUST this mangaka's results (or rather, any time he's mentioned).

"Meme 50" still works as results for this mangaka, though. And if someone searches it on, say, Google, it still comes up with either (try it by doing " site:hentairules.net meme 50")

You can't download this from anywhere except here. Oliver did this himself.

I get where he's coming from though. You got hentairules plastered in the archive and file name. On evey page name, banners inside and outside the archive, textfiles inside and outside. It's total overkill. And I seriously question what this is supposed to achieve that just one banner inside the archive couldn't do. Or hentairules just written inside in the folder name.

You don't need to put it in every possible place to get more people to this site. Just look at every scanlator out there. One credit page is all we do. We don't have to plaster our names, links or whatever all over the releases. One page works just foine. And if some jerkoff wants to release it without a trace we (or oliver) had anything to do with it, he can. In olivers releases case it just takes more time.l Then again, it also takes oliver more time to release them like this. Time that could be spend more wisely if you think about it.

It takes me like a second to bulk rename files…

I wouldn't expect you to side against oliver. And you're not the only one that can rename multiple files. It takes more than a second in any case. If you calculate 1 minute for all those changes in the archive, and multiply that with all the releases here, that is quite a bit of time. And however long it takes doesn't really matter. The point is, the current way over the top.

No it doesn't. There are programs that automate the process and can rename hundreds of files in seconds.

Feanor

Yes, like totalcommander. But you still have to open the program, select the directory, input the codes so that every file has the same name but with consecutive numbers. If there is a double spread it's a bit trickier. You have to select and copy the banner and stuff in the folder. If all that takes you just a second, you would probably call Jesus your brother. In any other case it takes a little more than a second, and that time only bulks up.

Bulk Rename Utility opens directly at the directory, pressing ctrl a selects everything, then all you have to do is enter in the thing that stays constant and change the numbers to go up by one every time. The constant thing only takes a few (FIVE) seconds to change each time, so that would mean this whole thing takes 5 seconds to complete.

Keep in mind I'm ONLY talking about the file renaming, so the stuff with the banner (which also only takes a second to copy and paste… I mean, seriously dude, how old is your computer if you can't copy and paste these quicker than it takes to DO the C&P command?) and getting it set up isn't factored in, but if you want to get the exact amount of time: I'd say it takes me about 10-15 seconds if I didn't have the program already open. If I DID have the program open, it's only like 5.

25 seconds isn't useful at all as Oliver only has a set amount of time he can do this per day due to his job and family responsibilities.

My tower cost almost 1500 bucks alone. Not some stock model, but every piece specially selected. It runs very good.
Nobody denies a program opens fast and you can select the files easily. And if there is no double page spread, where you have to put two numbers in the name, so you can't rename all the files at once (at least not in totalcommander), you can rename a lot quickly. You just have to type "oh-well -www.hentairules.net" once and select the numbering deal.
Copy-pasting is fast, but you have to (at least on the first upload) open the folderwhere you keep those (unless you had them on your desktop) and the folder with the upload.
I doubt you do all that in 5 seconds. 10-15 seconds is more likely. And that's considering you do it fast. Something you might not even do every time. 15 seconds makes 4 hours of your life for every 1000 updates. Just because one credit page didn't cut it. Just seems like a waste to me. Then again, so is this.

So was mine, so you should be able to do it just as fast as I can. I guess I just type faster than you…

But regardless, your "saving four hours" argument is invalid. He'd only save 15 seconds, he doesn't have the ability to bank the time and use it later.

At this point I have to conclude your acting stupid on purpose. Or the concept of adding time is too hard to understand. You can't bank time, but after a thousand releases you have lost 4 hours put together, overall, all in all. That is a fact. And of course that lost time, you could've spent on other stuff.

The concept of what I'm trying to tell isn't that hard to grasp. Nobody says you have to agree that it's a waste to put the url everywhere, or whatever. But please. It takes more than a second to rename, that is an undeniable fact. Just like the fact that if you spend 15 seconds to do something that might be unnecessary, and do it a lot, then those 15 seconds pile on.

Maybe you'll get it this way. Say it takes me 15 seconds to write on message and I write you 1000. Have or have I not spent 4 hours, that I could've done other stuff. Whether I write them in a row or over the course of one year, doesn't matter. The fact that it was 4 hours overall doesn't change.

No, you don't seem to understand. You're adding up those 15 seconds, you can't do that. Because no matter what Oliver will always be unable to use those 15 seconds for anything. Sure, he might've saved 4 hours total after 1000 uploads, but all he did was sitting around scratching his ass wait for the 15 seconds to finish. If he could actually use those 15 to upload another manga that would be a whole different matter entirely, but he can't because he doesn't have the time to do the zip, upload and create a post for another one. He could theoretically create another post and work on that one for the 15 seconds for a whole month before finishing it, but that just seems stupid.

My point is: you aren't saving any time at all if you can't put it to good use for another purpose and15 seconds doesn't amount to anything.

Case and point: this post took like 20 minutes to type (because I'm on my phone and the Intense Debate screen is broken on cell phones). I could've used those for something else, like masturbating. (I would hope no one out there can cum in 15 seconds) As I know for a fact I can't cum in 20 minutes, I opted to reply to you because masturbating would've been a waste of time as I only had 20 minutes to spare. I could've done something more constructive sure, but Oliver does not have that luxury with only 15 seconds so neither did I.

This argument is getting redundant.

I had a problem with this that I had with occasional downloads from there. The file seems to download OK and browser seems to switch to decompressing the file (though the file type doesn't change from file.zip.download to file.zip) but then it just keeps saying "decompressing" without anything happening.

The problem persists over repeated attempts and over the different download links. I'm using a Mac with Safari. Any help would be appreciated.

Really nice, thank you! Are you gonna edit the second part, too?

Also, how did you do it? Do you just copy the content of every bubble one by one?
I've tried editing tank scans with a mag translation, but I always fail miserably. Usually because the scans are slightly different sizes. (and if you didn't guess it already I'm a noob at editing and only have GIMP to play around with stuff :P)

Instead of copypasting, you could just reletter it after actually cleaning the whole thing again. (Which is what you should do in cases like this)

Although I can't be 100% certain, it does indeed look like Oliver just copy and pasted the text. Then he flattened, leveled and blurred it. I dunno why he did that, you're not supposed to level or blur text (and in my opinion looks like shit) :(

Also, protip: Get Photoshop.

Although retyping wasn't exactly the answer I was hoping for, wished there was a quicker solution for it. :P
Too bad those scans aren't the same size, else working with layers would be quite easy I suppose.
PS is quite an investment for just trying to edit some pictures once in a blue moon. :(

Well, there IS a solution.

Create an Action to resize the uselessly high res Kor scans to the same size and retouch them properly (grayscale them, levels, surface blur, re-levels, save without compression, close) to the same size as the English scans.
Paste one other the other. Hide, unhide layers.
Realize the width-height ratio isn't the same, swear.
Realize the pics are slightly rotated left or right, swear louder.
Drag and drop guides to have reference points on the left and right of the image, and then nudge, push, pull, rotate, repush, repull, return back in history, rotate, shrink horizontally, or vertically, curse more, until the two images are almost exactly the same in the upper and lower level.
At this point, a choice has been made, to "torture" the English images, and leave unharmed the KOR images, because I went after the tank scans for a good reason after all.
Hide the KOR image, focus on the ENG image.
Lasso-select all the dialogues, wide selections nearing the borders of the bubbles. Invert selection, Cut, to reveal the layer below.
Additional job, In case of dialogues plastered over a background with just a white Stroke around them, give up and draw a white rectangle around the dialogues, and lasso-select all the backgrounds to remove them. Blending options : stroke black, outer glow.
Now, show both layers, click the KOR one, remove all KOR dialogues still showing with a lasso-select and control-del.
Save. Drink tea. Proceed to the next pic

:D

Wow, thanks for the lenghty reply! Especially the realize-swear part made me laugh. :D
But yea, that was exactly the part that I meant, a simpe size difference wouldn't be any issue – it's the slightly strechted, tilted whatever'ed difference in pictures that makes it tedious.
If all the bubbles would align it'd be easy just to clone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb5JpL-iJA8&feature=player_detailpage#t=189s in GIMP it's german, but just watching was enough to figure it out) the content from the translation onto the tank scans.
