Hello guys !

Could I ask for a program recommendation, please ?

I’d like to record things I’m doing on my Win7 computer, simply. Where I click, what I do, what’s happening on the screen. For this, I’d like a program that is simple, free and reliable. (If that exists ! ^^;;)

So far I’ve used Cam Studio, but the program doesn’t allow to setup clearly standard resolutions, so uploading to Youtube is close to impossible.  And the user interface is anything but easy to use or understand.
A good program would accept to record full-screen, or “draw” a rectangle on my monitor to show the zone where the recording takes place, from a list of presets of various standard video resolutions, for instance…

Well, thank you if there’s a program you could recommend :)

What is your graphics processor, as Nvidia has an excellent resource-lite recording/streaming suite built into all GTX cards 650 and above.

You mean Shadowplay? I don't think that allows for recording anything other than gameplay…

And my video card is too old for that, sadly ^^

HI Oliver

Try BB Flashback pro, its pretty simple once you get the hang of it. it has region option which record a part of your window.

If you do try it, tell me okay?

OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is pretty good. It does screen region capture, fullscreen capture, game capture. Allows for both livestreaming and recording to a local drive. Open Source, so it's completely free and there's a bunch of examples on Youtube.

Yea i second this software, go go open source. It might not have options to show where you are clicking by default but just check the forums, i am sure someone made a plugin for it!

Thanks Ganonmaster and Commy !

I'm puzzled about the default not showing where is clicked, I'll have to look into that ;)

it will show your mouse, but it won't explicitly show where you clicked, so as long as you are obvious about where you click it will be just like any video you see on youtube and the like.

Buy Bandicam http://www.bandicam.com – 39 USD) It not free but sure is a good program. Fast and small file size. For screen key press display i use "spot on the mouse" http://www.markuswelz.de/software/ – 15 EURO).

You are aware everything on this site IS piracy, right?

This is a different philosophical point of view, I think. There is no other way to get our hentai.

Whereas, here, there ARE free programs available for the taking. So rather than go pirate on something else, why not go legit ? See what I mean ?

These last years, I've gone more and more legit. Save my OS (windows7, no way I'd give money to Microsoft, and yet I need to stay with windows because of programs I use for my work) and Photoshop (I doubt adobe needs my money, and it's too expensive for me anyway T_T), I have replaced every pirated software I use with similar free programs, also purchasing a few programs when I really loved them and use them for a long time and the price was OK with me.

While I’m at it, Hurp, I was wanting to update a thing in my post, and then I saw something weird, would you have an explanation ?

I put it in an image, I think it would be simpler : http://imgur.com/1Hhwp0o

I mean, if you fix errors, sure, thank you, I know I’m doing mistakes on a regular basis. I also see you updated Yuzuki N dash’s page so that’s cool, good. (Udon-ya’s page remains :D )

But if you’re changing legit styling, then something’s wrong. Still, please, do tell me if I’m mistaken and the system is wrong in showing you wrongly update styling.

All I changed was the title to “Yuzuki N Dash” (with an apostrophe, which is officially in her name), nothing else.

Also >autosave

Really ? This is WEIRD !

Look at that other post, http://www.hentairules.net/wp-admin/revision.php?…

This is comparing two revisions you made in that post, the before-the-last-one (right) with the antepenultimate one (left)
And, see, the semicolons were removed after your editing.

If you’re not doing it deliberately, it happens after you edit it anyway. WTF ?

(Also, you still have the Udon-Ya redir page to do, don’t let work to do pile up…)

HurpDurp

I dunno man. Maybe Wordpress changed the way it formats shit and it’s updating it when I save? On that one all I did was change the number from 247 to 230 to 227. :/ (I put 230 according to the comment, then was like “I should probably check it myself”, and then did that.)

(Yeah, yeah. I can’t do shit like that until night time. It’s not night time right now.)

By the way, this is a real problem on SnO and Miray Ozaki’s redirection pages (and apparently Udon’s), what should I do about broken images?

Then, it's weird.

I tested the wordpress internals, updating an existing post, aligning a chapter on the left, and ont he middle again, by clicking on the buttons in the editor, and there WERE semicolons O_o

(OK if you got to wait till night, as long as you do it ^^)

You replied while I was editing my post orz:

Hmm, you mean broken images for the covers ?

Usually, when I got one like that, I open the pictures gallery in my browser, and select-copy the cover. Then in the post editor mode (not html source), I paste the image kept in the clipboard.

HurpDurp
HurpDurp

Well, yeah. But sometimes even that doesn’t work because they’re broken there too (such is the case with Miray’s. Actually, the gallery links don’t work at all for her.) Should I just pick something randomly? I’d much prefer it be the cover/image with the name of the manga instead of some random image (which btw, has made my life more difficult since you stopped using those for your previews :<)

Also, for the semicolon thing: Try using Chrome instead of Firefox? I updated those using Chrome, so maybe that had something to do with it.

ONE MORE THING: Since Udon-ya has like 14 different posts for that series of Monster Hunter djs, should I redirect all the old ones to the megapost? Most (all?) of the links are dead anyway.

Oliver AKA The Admin

Reply to  HurpDurp

Juste tested in Chrome and the bug's not there, I align left, I center right, there's always the semicolon.

Seriouslyyyyy… Look, the next two or three times you edit a post, can you please do it with another browser ? Just to make sure ? Not a test dev bleeding edge for, a main branch of a main browser like FF or IE ?
For science. And for me.

Regarding the images : in the worst case, in the past, I would check if hentaifromhell or nekohentai didn't have imagevenue cover images that I could copy, but sadly they're now gone, and to my surprise I didn't see super good websites like these two taking over.
So, now, I have to pull it from my local hard disk, or (depending on what's faster) download the archive from my sharing links and pull the cover from there..

OK for the megapost redirection.

Oliver, over and out, I'm late on my day's work, argh ^^

Fraps
——–

Cons;

– Hefty file size
– Lowered Frames on an older HDD as well as a HDD that the game is on (has to read/write both game data and recording data
– Poor Audio (if you record with that)

Pros;
– Easy to setup and use
– Decent amount of options
– Uncompressed (you can do whatever you want with it, it's basically what you see on screen, allowing for maximum post-processing)
– Record any length (as long as your HDD has space)

Dxtory
——–

Cons;
– Complication
– Some crashing (my own person experience)

Pros;
– Uncompressed
– Any length
– Can mux any audio channels, including skype etc

Camtasia (Not for game recording, mainly for desktop recording)
————-

Cons;
– Poor Frame recording
– Poor in-house editor.

Pros;
– Easy to use / record

Personally, I would use Fraps and Audacity, making sure to tick off the fraps audio recording (it's shit), and record the audio separately, that way you can clean the audio after the fact to make it clearer. After that, use something like Song Vegas or Power Director (easy and my preferred option) to mux both the audio and video as well as encode into a format.

After that, I use Handbrake to lower the file size while keeping quality. If you want a step by step with each program as well as how to properly clean up audio, drop me an email.

VLC (Video LAN Client) will stream from your desktop to a file or over a network, handle transcoding, and makes a dandy media player.

Free, open source, and cross platform.

I use VLC when nothing else works and am generally pleased with the results. Also has the world's crappiest user interface, and insufficient and confused documentation. From my experience it's "VLC — always the last resort, never the first".

Since when does VLC have a recorder that records what you're DOING on your computer, not what you're watching in VLC? Nothing on Google seems to indicate it has such a feature either.

I use SnagIt by TechSmith – I think it was around the $35 mark. They let you try free for a month too, so you can try before you buy. No credit card info up front either, so none of that automatic paying at the end of the trial bullshit – you only pay when you decide to buy.

So long as you are Win7 and above you can record audio too (with vid or just the audio) either from the mic or the video's/pc's auto.

I use a different TechSmith program called Jing. It can record areas, specific windows etc.

Use Bandicam. Does everything you want that you mentioned. Plus recod in any resolution you want and doesnt take that much space. Not hard to use and the site has good FAQ's. I use it to record LoL and its great. You can use Handbrake to make the videos smaller after you record to make the uploads faster

Open Broadcaster Software : [url ]http://obsproject.com/[url]

It's an open source streaming software that most streamer use on website like twitch.tv. It has a fonction to record what's happening on screen with pretty easy managment of video layer to have multiple flux recorded (like a webcam flux incrusted in the video). Not to mention of course resolution compatibility and all the other basics features.
Plus it's open it's free and it has a friendly community.
