I think this character is Ashe the main heroine of Final Fantasy 12.

Now I know why I didn't recognize the girl, the last FF game I played was FFX T__T
I used to be a huge Final Fantasy nerd, but then real life caught up to me, I had to save money and skipped on buying consoles and stuff.
I'm only upgrading my PC when its parts die, so I can tell with a certain degree of trust that, when both my CPU and GPU will have been replaced (hopefully : not too early, lol), I'll be able to comfortably emulate the consoles to play the more recent FF games

I'd personally say you're not missing much, as I consider X to be the last 'pure' FF game.
The subsequent episodes feel too…. well… to me they feel like they were concieved and directed by marketing executives rather than artists – like most hollywood movies anymore.
Then FF8 was already one of the bad apples :/
