That was…different…than I expected based on the write-up. Definitely a lot of mixed messages at work here. I like that we’re dealing with college students. Setup: we open with a couple going at it on the couch, the only two people who aren’t passed out at a college drinking party. Our heroine, Aoi, is getting banged by the condom wearing ugly overweight guy, while the bishie she’s got the hots for, but who has a girlfriend, is passed out. She doesn’t want to wake him up, as she doesn’t want him to see her like this. We have our first mixed message: she’s protesting, asking Kinoshita to stop, but at the same time just wants him to hurry up and get it over with. Date rape? Quite possible, but he’s already in her, wearing a condom, when we first see them. There’s no indication she’s a virgin, either But, as it turns out, he’s good, and she has a massive orgasm. Then he ends up semi-blackmailing her into more sex, mentioning about telling bishie boy about what happened. But she gets more and more into the sex. Finally, on a safe day, he’s run out of condoms, so while he offers to go buy some, she tells him to go ahead, as she has her first bareback sex experience. Which breaks the last resistance she has in her soul to him, as she absolutely loves it bareback, and responds to his confession of love, by telling him that she loves him too. The story ends with the Aoi and Kinoshita dating, but, despite knowing that, bishie confesses to Aoi, who realizes, that bishie just broke up with his girlfriend, and that she’s heard he’s lousy at sex. She rejects him, telling him she’s not just interested in guys who have only good looks.
I wish this had been longer. We don’t know how Aoi ended up having sex in the opening scene. Was she passed out and woke up to find herself being penetrated? Or were she and Kinoshita messing around, but things went further than she planned? No way to know. What I do know, is that it seems that Aoi was lubbed up enough to accept Kinoshita’s cock without problems.
Kinoshita: Yeah, a jerk, but he’s not a complete jerk. He wears condoms, and is a considerate lover, always making sure Aoi cums. When they run out, he’s willing to put sex on hold to go get condoms, but since it’s a safe day, Aoi isn’t willing to wait that long. He confesses his love to her, and is prepared to take responsibility.
The bishie: He’s a jerk. He confesses to Aoi after she and Kinoshita are publicly dating, but he does so only after he’s broken up with his girlfriend. His attitude is: I’m handsome and athletic (tennis coach), so of course you’ll dump the ugly guy.
So, is this a story of a girl 1) who ends up getting sucked into a relationship solely due to being mindbroken by good sex and finally brainwashed by the awesomeness of bareback sex, or 2) is it about a girl who finally sees that good looks aren’t the most important thing about a relationship? It starts out feeling like the first, but ends up feeling like the second.
Aoi certainly isn’t mindbroken at the end of the story. So, yeah, no NTR. This is a willing decision on her part.
What I think we have here is a story about a girl who overcomes her own prejudices, but with some of those peculiar Japanese tropes/views on sexuality (girl orgasms = no rape; bareback sex + cream pie = ultimate sexual experience for a woman), obscuring the viewpoint. The problem is we have only 18 pages of story, and we never see her and Kinoshita together other than during sex. She goes along with sex play that gets more and more adventurous, which requires her consent to at least some degree. We see that Kinoshita is willing to do what she wants on the condom issue, which tends to indicate that Aoi’s agreed with what they’ve done during their previous sex scenes, that Aoi does have some degree of control in their relationship.
So, I think that we have a girl here who wasn’t honest with herself. It’s sort of a Beauty and the Beast story (I’m a pretty girl, I can’t be seen with an ugly guy!), though since, well, Japan, the message gets muddled.
