Kiseki No Suki O Nokoshitai (“I Want To Leave Behind a Miraculous Love”) [English], by Nagashiro Rouge
Somewhere in Japan, a mangaka once asked himself (or herself, IDK), “I want to make it believable that a girl has no access to bilingual dictionaries and there’s no internet access, it would be good if it allowed dramatic depth as a bonus”.
Some time later, in one page, a comet blinds stargazers and turns everyone into zombies, an artificial intelligence nukes the world, aliens invade, natural disasters ravage the face of the Earth, humanity dies leaving only two survivors, two girls, one Russian and one Japanese, and they don’t understand each other, YESS MANGAKA VICTORY ACHIEVED!1!!one!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Okay, I reckon this unique way of going overboard rightly deserves sarcasm, but the story wasn’t bad, really. Communication having to rely on feelings rather than words, the fear to leave your loved one alone in a deserted world, the miracle of a deus ex machina, it gave us touching, heart-warming vanilla, served with quality art

Guess this even applies to vanilla-laced yuri love:

What the actual frick? That first page had FIVE world ending whammies. Talk about condensing content….
And that ending, uh…there’s gonna be a LOT of incest. As far as I can tell, the 4 kids they had are all girls. Hm. Yuri incest….
We’re not one deus ex machina in, at this point, right? Let us imagine those alien hatcher devices magically cure their potential genetic diseases and genetic anomalies
Hmm….
I’d say the world ending events are overkill and exaggerated, but something similar may happen in real life. Only for us it will be climate change, diseases, a once in a millennia natural disaster, nuclear war, and infertility.
Anyhow, the ending is a world with only females…
About the end of civilization, I’d say another hentai share nailed it pretty well.

Yup, the energy wars.
I picture there will be wars, for energy, for water. But I view it in a bigger picture made of random haphazard rotting of the global structure of economy, with networks cut by conflict and/or scarcity reconnecting themselves in a less efficient form, with the production losing in quality and variety because of the scarcity-of-the-moment depending on which raw material becomes or remains unavailable.
I find it abysmally sad. If only we had it in ourselves to regulate ourselves more, to make less children, to understand it’s pointless to try and accumulate things. If we had maybe one or two additional centuries with scientific research continuing at its pace, who can tell if we wouldn’t have managed to overcome the resources bottleneck? Maybe we’d have managed to farm asteroids, or to properly hack into our genome to boost our intelligence and become a better species, more intelligent, perhaps more empathic.
But, no, we’re running straight into the wall of the resources bottleneck in a context of chaos aggravated by the growing effects of climate change and population explosing (+4 billions soon) in the century to come, it’s not honestly doable for us to adapt ourselves to such an obstacle made of intertwined issues.
I’m not a depressive person, but I still have to live with this depressing thought, it saddens me. All we can do is enjoy what we got and hope we’ll reach the end of our lives before shit really hits the fan, basically. But I have children, and, what can I hope for them, that they’ll make it to the 20% most wealthy who’ll still have it easy, or encourage them to train for jobs that will always be necessary no mattter the context, such as in medecine? Not what I love thinking about.
No I get it, I’m just kinda relieved I’m not the only one thinking I’m on a cruise ship of the damned.
From what I’m reading we’re going to lose coffee and chocolate in the next 50 years, then a lot of beachfront property.
I just finished the School-Live! series, and I can’t help but think some folks are walking around like Yuki, living in this delusional bubble while the apocalypse is going on around them.
“One day later, an angel appeared before us and it said, ‘Get out of the city, morons, buildings are gonna start collapsing on you. Also, play with the UFO controls and switch it to Male for awhile. And start looking for a bookstore! Russian to Japanese or English isn’t that hard to find.’ After repeating this in Russian, it flew away.”
heh
Concrete buildings typically last a century if they’re left to themselves, I read, so, IDK, they should still have a bit of time before them
