Shame on me, my April’s fools day prank has been a failure

I’m gonna be honest, I noticed that the spacing in the bubbles was off and that most of the dialog was weird, but I’ve seen WAY worse translations so I just thought it was a “you get what you get” offering because no one else was interested in translating it.

If anything O, you had me more paranoid that I was missing the actual prank that I kept thinking, that’s it? That can’t be it. His 4-1 jokes are usually way more elaborate than that. What am I missing? What is his game? Whats his angle?

I’m trying to remember, was that one share with the censorship bars as kitty cats a 4-1 joke or was that just the way the author wanted to share it? Either way, that one was hilarious.

Sorry O, that’s the problem with outdoing yourself, eventually you hit a ceiling. Of course that just means you need to drop down farther so you can build up speed to punch though the next time.

Hm, I was wondering about both the quality of the translations and the typesetting, coupled with the fact that you didn’t post a single file with all 3 of them. Then again I didn’t think too much of it, because just like you mentioned in the description of the post, the vanilla was very good and because there are days you only make a single post or two, so I thought you were just short on time.

I only read the first volume, thinking, “Well, that wasn’t the best fan-translated work I’ve ever seen, but wow have I seen soooooo much worse…and it didn’t screwup the adorably sexy girl and cute couple.”

And since it’s been that kind of time I wasn’t even thinking about an April Fool’s prank. But if you’re going to do an April Fool’s prank with subs, mildly bad grammar and mildly off translations just don’t cut it.

There’s so much horrible translations and fansubs out there that what you did just didn’t register (which is GOOD thing, because your prank didn’t ruin the manga). I can’t remember the manga, but there’s one out there (ecchi, not hentai), where the translator insisted on doing every chapter using lower class British slang: Abomination isn’t putting it strongly enough ( I only wish it’d been an April Fool’s prank).

I think your best route would’ve been a non-translation, an original work. Which of course means endless possibilities, from completely serious off-topic: Reciting cooking recipes, dialogue from public domain plays, or lampooning things: “How Not To Social Distance”, to just going a pure comedy routine: “Ordinarily Yu-kun wouldn’t be able to afford for us to go to a love hotel, but now we can go everyday since he won his lawsuit for having defective pants, as everyone knows that bodily fluids never stain male pants in hentai!” Etc.

I feel for you, dude. I once assisted an April Fools prank at a certain large government bureaucracy. A friend of mine wrote what she thought was a scandalous memo: “Up is down! Evil is good! We will now eat babies!” Sadly enough, everyone just filed the memo, they were too burned out by the legitimate idiocy they received daily and paid no heed to the parody. Didn’t even get a blip on the bullshit radar. Out of 30 people, 1 guy, ONE GUY, actually read the memo and flipped his shit. He was frothing at the mouth, raging at my friend, who patiently explained it was an April Fools joke. This guy that was later rumored to have gotten a frontal lobotomy (they don’t do those any more.) Kinda sad, really.

I gotta be honest, I read your prank and just thought, “This is not the worst I’ve seen.” I apologize, I should have thought about your standards and realized that you’d have warned us that this stuff was seriously optic-cancer-level!

Well… i download most of your stuff and put it on a to-read list… which contains close to 60000-70000 items already.

So yeah, I’ll see the joke in a couple years
