A bit of background story: in the Fate / Grand Order game, Serenity is a cute dark-skinned young woman, usually wearing a skull mask. The game emphasizes a fair deal how she’s not accustomed to human contact, as she’s an Assassin whose unique talent is to release deadly poison from a single contact with her skin. She falls in love with the F/GO Master, the first man to acknowledge and praise her, and who can touch her without feeling the effect of her toxins.
And so, in this share, it’s Serenity with her Master… but it’s not just sex. It’s a comfy slice of life feeling, side characters adding life and smiles, pleasant touches of unexpected comic relief… You see what I mean? The sex was delivered, as you could expect, it was okay without being amazing, but there was also more to the manga, in my eyes, that was absolutely worth it ^__^

But, still, I don’t feel like getting back into the game. I kinda want to piss on the people telling “muh you can do it with 3-star servants, just be an elite thinker who works on his strategy 5 hours a day and practices CE advanced arithmancy”.
Shit, if I play, it’s to have fun, not to cry tears of blood until the exact one in a thousand combination of random allows me to win something.
I would have been okay with a 4-star servants roster, at least one of each group, but F2P playing didn’t even grant me that chance: Gil caster, Marie-Antoinette Rider, Hokusai, and every single other one was 3 stars or below. So, no, sorry.
I understand it’s at that point that people start spending money, and never cease spending. I had already felt that turning point moment would come, and I overcame the trial, I quit instead of spending, this is it, simply

I’m F2P as well, and I’m as far as Shimosa(which is at least 8 chapters deep), which is 2 chapters before the current one available(Anastasia) and isnt compulsory to beat.
I started the game with Nobunaga Archer as my only Gold AoE Archer for a very long time until I got EMIYA just this year(and Atalante just slightly a couple month before that). Didnt even get a (useable) Gold Saber until at least 6 months in( a lucky Mordred pull). Even in terms of Riders, I was working with Martha(my tutorial pull) and Ushiwakamaru for a good amount of time.
Did lucked out with Mysterious Heroine X as my first Gold Assassin(and 5 star) though.
Gil Caster and Hokusai are both actually quite great and both can sync well with each other. Just throw in Hans and you should have a solid frontline to get you through most areas.
You will eventually get some 4 and 5-stars the longer you play. The game does throw plenty of events that gives you 4-stars for free(my Nobunaga Archer is one) and some of them are pretty powerful. You missed out on some like Kintoki Rider(and Nobu, Ryougi Shiki, Halloween Lizzie as well) but there’s still a chance to get others like BB(Single-Target Arts MoonCancer, a unique class. Rerun is next year), Chloe(Single-Target Arts Archer. Rerun is also next year), and Sakamoto Ryoma(Single-Target Arts Rider. Event in 1-2 months) and Shuten(Single-Target Arts Caster. Event this coming Halloween).
Everyone I mentioned that you can still get would work well with Gil Caster as well.
Other notable mentions include Mecha-Eli during the Halloween rerun event later this year, who is a unique Single-Target Alter Ego, Swimsuit Jeanne Alter during the Summer Event later this year who is a Single-Target Berserker and Rider Ishtar during Summer Rerun later this year who is an Area-Of-Effect Rider.
