Ato Ippo No Kyorikan (“On the other hand”) [English, retouched], by Kumano Tooru

Once again, Kumano Tooru delivers a wholesome story, heart-warming, cute, and with original, unique art

We have seen this scenario canvas a few times already, a group of friends agree to a catch-up meet after their highschool years, and oddly, only a boy and girl show up, everybody else had pressing reasons not to attend. Obviously, those two had budding feelings that never came to fruition, etcetera ^^

I can’t find the proper words to describe Kumano Tooru’s drawings… The girls feel “more realistic”, they don’t have gorgeous hourglass figures, giant boobs, they’re kinda flat, with a little belly and the like, but instead of becoming less attractive, that makes them more loveable, more attractive in my eyes… Wouldn’t you call that weird? I mean, it works for me, but I can’t explain why.

I was forgetting to mention: I ran my typical retouching on the pics, to try and remove the printing or scanning defects (I never know what causes that kind of issues), and make the pics much closer to how perfect scans ought to look. A before/after comparison is present in the last two pictures of the gallery.
I call it an improvement… but it’s in my eyes, after all. I’m hoping it’s also OK for you: it’s always hard to tell, when I’m both judge and jury.
