What a sad news, Kentaro Miura, author of the Berserk series, passing away.

If you last read Berserk a decade ago, check it out, there’s been more since then. While it’s regrettable the series will never reach an ending, perhaps it’s enough that there was so much talent, beauty, inspiration and originality in there.

If you never read Berserk at all, check it out, come on! Despite the first volumes looking okay at best (it’s also valid for the scanlations, the first scanlations were an horror, there are better ones now), it gets so much better soon enough, the manga is one of the few actual masterpieces.

And, well… goodbye, Miura sensei, I hope there’s a something after life ends, and that you are happy out there.

If “a picture is worth a thousand words (figuratively or literally)”, then I’ll let this one speak for me:

damn, that one hits hard. I still own the old dvd set to the 1997’s Berserk Golden age arc. Rest in peace Miura-sensei, and thank you for the huge influence you had on me, on my DnD campaigns, and on the world as a whole.

You sir, are the GOAT.

There is still a hope. If and only if a circle would pick this series up and willingly to prolong author’s legacy. So everyone, star your wish.

Just based on some randon browsing, some have mentioned the possibility that Miura’s staff might continue the manga, based upon notes left by Miura before his passing. Of course, it would be better to get official word from his publisher as to what will happen to the series now.

The publisher is Hakusensha (白泉社). Berserk was published in Young Animal (https://www.younganimal.com/).

Wow, that’s crazy, I just saw Volume 40 upped on a site I go to.

Thought about cracking open the series.

I had my eye on some hard cover volumes of the series, but coulnd’t bring myself to buy them, thought I’ll wait till it is finished and get them all. Sadly that is not going to happen.
None of us can predict how long we will be around or how much we can achive, sadly he was over before his series…
He will not be forgotten.

RIP Miura.

Still shock last night and could not sleep. It’s still unbelievable that he passed away so soon. People complained how Miura, Togashi and others take their time with long breaks and all. You just don’t know what’s happening in the background.

Truly the one of the Gods of Manga for me. Berserk may or may not continue with his notes most likely been passed on to his assistants. It’s going to be interesting if the new Berserk Studio (which was set up just a few years ago) for more Berserk content, will continue the work or not.

It maybe the case of Highschool of the Dead where the team could continue the series and the author (Daisuke) may even want it, but they (Souji; Artist) will not, because they can’t continue without the main man behind the creation.

Either way, definitely a sad time. Just appreciate them for always giving us these amazing worlds and characters.

THANK YOU MIURA!!

Your works will always be cherished and celebrated eternally!

May you Rest in Peace.

His aorta broke. 急性大動脈解離 (kyūsei daidōmyaku kairi) is reported by the Japanese press as the reason for his death, “acute aorta dissection” or something in English. What a scary way to die.

Farewell to a true master. Haven’t read BERSERK in some time, but I’ve started to re-read the volumes I have.

Started Berserk quite late, but enjoyed it quite much and dreaded that he wouldn’t finish it due to all the delays and apparent health issues that plagued him for years. Sad to see that my fears were realized, but I’ll never forget Miura either way. Rest well, Kentaro Miura and I hope that you manage to finish both Berserk and Duranki in the after life, so that I’ll be able to read it when it’s my turn.

Beserk is already as sad as it is, just when something was getting decent for Guts, his author dies on him.
I’m all in favor to some sort of posthumous conclusion, if only to see Griffith get some retribution. It would be TOO depressing if Miura’s staff reveal that the Major Bastard would have eventually lived, prospered and create his own vision for the world.
That said I was already prepared to not be able to survive up to the end to Berserk and One Piece, but now even this joke is too sad

R.I.P Miura et merci. Ton oeuvre restera à jamais un saint graal de la Dark Fantasy.
