Hello everyone !
This is a non-hentai post, so you may skip it if you don’t feel concerned
Simply, I don’t know if you noticed, but since wordpress 3.7 came out, the Search results have been revamped. And I’d need a plugin to revert this change.
— UPDATE : part of this help request is obsolete. Wordpress would still need such a plugin, but a functions.php -based solution was given in the comments
Search for keywords,
– before WP 3.7, the latest post contents and post titles containing matching keywords are loaded chronologically
– since WP 3.7, the latest post titles matching the keywords are loaded chronologically, and only after no more post titles contain the relevant keywords, are going to be loaded, below the previous results, the posts whose post contents contain the matching keywords
For instance ? Search for “succubus“, my brand new share with a succubus only appears on page 2 of the results.
Or search for “Shinji“, because that wimpy bastard from Evangelion insanely turns you on (this was just a random example, okay) : this is only on page 3 that you’ll start finding posts mentioning the name “Shinji”, because shares by artists like Shinji Nora or Shinji Yamaguchiro were placed before.
— UPDATE : this example is obsolete, I patched my blog against this new search sorting order, an explanation was given in the comments. Wordpress would still need such a plugin, but at least hentairules works again
I guess it’s better for most websites. But when you try to find contents on Hentairules, with the posts going back seven years, I find this is a catastrophe, far too often the posts being shown first are not the most recent posts, it was better as it was before
So, well, here’s my plea for help. If you’re a coder, would you like to make a COOL move for the community, and release a plugin allowing to revert back to how the Search results were loaded and sorted in the past ?
I can’t help much, but I can at least provide the official diff that brought that change and promise “you” depositfiles keys for a long as you like
-Update : booyah ! Adding “&orderby=date” to the query shows the old and better way ! It should be easier to “pluginize” like that ?
