While I'm not 100% positive, I *think* I might know why the images are so small. This tank was translated by Doujin-moe, and they resize the images for their online gallery. Their normal downloads though are in high resolution. The problem is that this tankoubon is currently only available on their site to paying members. I am guessing that someone found a way to rip the files off of the paysite, but that they accidentally ripped the smaller images and not the high resolution ones. That's my guess anyways.

There won't be a certain guarantee, but that's a possible explanation…

You have no idea how hard it was for me to do an image search for "anime angel" and find any pictures of guys. 99.99% of the search results are either half-naked or completely naked pictures of female angels with huge breasts. Not that there is anything *wrong* with that, but it kept distracting me from my goal of finding an avatar for myself.
On the plus side, I now have a folder filled with pictures of big breasted anime angels. :-)

why not, uhm, get two or three people and clean/typeset the hi-res tank scans using the translation from the low-res tank scan? I’m downloading the hi-res jap scans, if I can clean them reasonably fast I’ll post the cleans so someone else can do the typesetting.

okay, the DL for the jap scans just finished. it’s awsomely clean, it’s just erasing text in white bubbles and typesetting, I’m not kidding! (if someone points me to the proper typeface I’ll typeset it myself)

@itsit: Without even looking, I can almost guarantee the typeface they used is either “Wild Words” or Blambot’s “Anime Ace” (both very similar fonts), which are what are used for the vast majority of scanlation (with Wild Words being somewhat more popular I think, and what I use myself).
I musn't have the same Wild Words font as you, or else it's a family instead of just one font ?
The Wild Words present on my hard disk is rather hard to use for comics, it may be used occasionally, but it's far less "mainstream" than Anime Ace…

You can always scale down, but scaling up is a different thing. Remember that when you get a bigger monitor and reflect on what you said just now :p

I don't understand the problem with the res of these pictures. It's actually the perfect resolution to look at them without picture distortion. Higher resolution would just cause distortion unless you're looking at them on a 50 inch, which I'm sure no one has.
Oh and I have a 22 inch monitor… it's pretty damn big and the size of these pictures is still fine.
Yeah. it's not too bad. But damn, when you look at a scale of 800×600 and how long it takes to get to 1400×900 then it's like a flight of stairs.

My screen res is 1680×1050, by the way. I still don't see the problem. I have nothing against high-res but TOO high of a resolution just doesn't look good if you want to look at the whole picture (this is common knowledge.)
